We had a LS stolen serial number 929 yesterday at about 1:30 PM Eastern Time. it happened in the little town of Pulaski VA. please keep an eye out on eBay or any other sites that sell surveying equipment. it had an internal SIM card and was on a Seco carbon fiber tripod , thanks

I was using it as a base an noticed CDF but still had connection so I drove to where the base was and I wasn't there called Adam and realized that I still had connection and that it showed distance to base so I tried to walk in the direction it indicated notice some people in the garage and ask him some questions and as I was asking them a car pulled away the distance got further and further but I only noticed what's the car was too far away from me to get description.

Wow. What a bummer.
1.) Major investment gone.
2.) No way to work, without new one.
3.) Some idiot is out there trying to get a "fix", but he wants a chemical one.
$300 - 500 you could buy it back.
Bummer.

yeah, it is totally useless for whoever stol it. I have a feeling it will be dumped on the side of the road somewhere when they find out they can sell it.

Hey! Great! I wonder if it made tracks where went.....
Nate
I was tracking it on Rams and trying to get a position but none was available, must been thrown in the trunk or backseat with something over it. I tapped a couple buttons then realized they probably hear it clicking. I tapped mute, then tapped the camera button and they turned it off. Maybe Verizon can give Chris some info. It has an internal modem.

Just some ideas:
If a base gets stolen, it would be good if:
The front facing camera would take pics every 10 seconds.
It could not be turned off, except by entering a code, or sequence of button presses.
It continued tracking and storing coordinates. An audio alarm would sound, and could not be silenced, without knowing the code.
Also, we'd like a part of the chassis that would allow us to chain lock it.

What could initiate this would be carrying it, or shaking it, or knocking it off level.
All, or some of these would be good.
The risk we run regularly, is of concern to all of us, when we leave equipment sitting for the day.
Thank you,
N

Taking picture is possible, but it is difficult to understand the fact of stolen unit to prevent false alerts. I thought about that too. Maybe later we can do it.
Find Me service is implemented now and would be available in the next release. You will turn the feature which is OFF by default and then you will be able to watch your unit(s) position on the map from your javad.com profile.

Eugene, I assume that the Find Me service will only work if the unit has a connection to the interweb. Am I correct or have you pulled another Eugenius moment?

Right, Internet makes it possible due to 3rd party server in connection between Device and user( or Rover). Other services like UHF or SSP doesn't provide any chance to deliver message to base. Here is no place for Eugenius features or innovations :).

I have updated the Service and now Unit locks control over it if you set Lost Or Stolen flag on the web.
