We wouldn't want to upset a thief by presenting him with a grammatically-improper message. The message should read, in part: "...until the owner unlocks it." (Italics mine.) Subject-verb agreement is important!

Is turning the base 30 degrees off level enough to trigger an alert?

I'd assume "off level" by some large amount should trigger it.
Just thinking here..,

I think the decision rather should be administrative than automatic in such case. Otherwise you need to login to web site to unlock it if your tripod simply felt down under the wind. So if you see it is the case with TRIUMPH-LS(yet only) you go and make it locked over web page.
