My new Triumph-3 (serial # 00197) was stolen from the intersection of U.S. Hwy 259 and State Hwy 155, North of Ore City, Texas Thursday May 27, 2021 and my HPT901BT radio (serial # 00012) was also stolen.

Please help me watch the net for someone trying to sell them.

Sad to hear that, David!
Unit registered as a stolen unit now. It would be useless to sell it to any surveyor, so I am hopping the thief will return it somehow to you.

David, there is also a stolen equipment section on SurveyorConnect. The more places it is listed the more likely you may get it back.

I can only hope. They will figure out that that they can't sell it and probably throw it in the trash, sickening.

I've just ordered this:
If I build a metal box for it, with a locking lid, and a device to set it off, and a battery, I should be able to discourage theft.

Lee Green, over at Survey Connect asked "why doesn't Javad put a tracker inside its gps units?"
So, I thought, why not?
I think there is sort of one there already. The javad web site has a method, to find stuff, already.
PT Sloan of Mena, a solo surveyor, subscribed to some sort of tracker, and carried it with him, so his wife could keep up with him. She could log in, and see his history, graphicly. I'd like to see this as a normal part of our gear, for family. He paid some $20 a month for it.
I think it would be a cool form of advertising, to show this kind of thing.
I know it's been worked on, but is anybody using this real time tracking?
Thanks,
Nate

Phillip, this would share the smartphone location, at some interval, of time, right?
It would not share the GPS base, and rover though, right?
I'm a Luddite, wanna be!
(Not totally, but I'd be happy 200 yrs ago. Life is too fast today)
