T1M as TCP base for LS

In other words, the relay service will eliminate the need for a Static IP address. This method will pass your RTCM3 corrections from your base to your rover.

However....I do not foresee it will be able to do everything that can be done if you have your own Static IP. With your own Static IP, you have full control of your base remotely as if you had a 6 mile long Bluetooth connection to your base. Using TCP Direct, I can Start, Stop, Download, and reprogram my base from anywhere on earth. There are times that I can be deep in the woods, collect a point with RTK that is not feasible to return to, sit down on a log, Stop and Download the base, send to DPOS, and get that wonderful confidence level of seeing my static solution match the RTK solution. I can then restart the base, and continue on.

I am pretty sure that the RTK Relay service will not be bidirectional. If it is at all possible to be so, then let this stand as a challenge to the engineers.... to make it so.

Ralph,

Yes! If your modem with the Static IP at the base is on the AT&T "i2Gold" plan, you will be good to go with an AT&T SIM card in the LS!.

I have personally confirmed this with another customer very recently.

Has anyone had any luck actually getting a static IP sim card from ATT for the Triumph 1M? I seem to be have a hard time getting anyone at ATT to offer one to me. After talking with a couple people at the local dealer and getting a blank stare, I called one of the corporate tech support people and they told me that I could get it from one of the Corporate owned stores but an "Authorized Retailer" would not carry it or have access to it. I contacted a "Corporate Owned Store" and was told no I cant have an "I2gold" plan, they are reserved for emergency services only. After much persuading he said I could fill out an application with the details of my use for it and it would take a week for the application to be reviewed. Then I "might" be allowed to get one.

Has anyone else gone through that process? It seems like the verizon hotspot would be easier to get but I was under the impression the ATT card would go directly into the T1M reciever without having an addition hotspot device to carry arround/battery to keep charged.

Any thoughts?

I was able to get an ATT static ip working with my T1M through a mobile hotspot(AT&T Velocity - White). ATT will issue a static ip and you then set up the mobile hotspot to be static, if I remember correctly. You can then use that hotspot for other things like working on network with a rover, if necessary. It was $0.99 with a new line/contract. Here is the contact info of my ATT person(Ms. Brett Hall)...

Does anyone know where I would find an IMEI # for the Triumph 1M ?

Thanks Ralph. I'm working with Brett Hall, the contrast in her competency compared to the other ATT reps I have spoken with is stark.

Yes I believe it may be the Serial Number for the Cellular module:

(this receiver does not have a cellular modem installed)

Sure thing Ryan. My experience is that GNSS receivers don’t have an IMEI or it is unnecessary for gnss receivers. All the carriers want it to check that the “phones” that they are setting up services for - are compatible and maybe for settings. Just to make sure that the plan is data and not phone. ATT will give you a static ip and instructions to set up the hotspot to static, they don’t do it for you. I have to toggle my tcp ports back and forth between 8002 and 8010 each time, probably a bad netview setup, only takes like 5 seconds. Maybe someone can help me on that. And a whole dose of Adam helping me to set things up on the T1M, through the LS connection, if memory serves.

My 1M shows "unknown" in that field also. Do all 1M recievers include a cellular modem?

For Modem C try setting the Modem Mode to Slave and set the GSM Hotstart Mode to On and then apply the settings to turn on the GSM modem. Then send this command to get the IMEI:

print,/par/modem/c/inf/dev/id

Actually the Serial Number displayed in Netview is the same as the IMEI so you would not need to send the GREIS command.

I am close to getting a T2 and mifi to use as a TCP base for my LS. This was a good discussion from last year, and I am wondering if anyone has a more suggestions about what mifi, carrier (verizon vs. ATT, I use both), and if the T2 is an acceptable base. I have good cellular coverage in my area, but the local RTN is a bit sparse, so I would use the RTN to bring control to an open area near my current site, and then this as a portable base.

So the deal is you have to have a static IP address for your base. Most people seem to be going for the verizon jetpack. I tried getting a static IP from ATT but kept getting the run around. I'm using a verizon jetpack model no. AC791L. John Evers has recommended that one in the past, but you cant actually buy it from Verizon anymore. I bought two of them recently one from Amazon or Ebay for about $40 each and didn't have any trouble getting them activated by Verizon. The Verizon jetpacks manufactured by Novatel reportedly give issues staying connected but I haven't had one personally.

The downside to Verizon is they charge a $500 one time fee to get a static IP address, my monthly bill with Verizon runs $15-$20 month for a cheap plan with enough data to run my base. I have a T1M, but if you dont have any use for a 1 Watt radio, the T2 seems like a good buy to me. If you use Verizon at your base you will need ATT or some other connection at your rover, cant use Verizon at base and rover from what I'm told. I have an ATT and a Google FI sim card in my rover, they both work well.

There use to be an issue with ATT at base and rover. Verizon to Verizon is not an issue. I been doing for years now.
