Topo profile

The Topo profile that I am using is not getting me the results I want. I would like a more precise profile for topos and shooting center lines of roads.
Here is my current profile.

I would like to see what others are using as far as settings to have a profile that will yield better results than I am getting.
Thank you Mike

Sorry Matthew, should have said. I have a LS+ with a T-3 and of course RTPK. I have not updated to 4.0 yet but current up to that.

Update to 4.0 and use the canopy profile in the woods and moderate to extreme multipath areas and the open profile in the open. Are you getting bad solutions or just loose solutions?

With 4.0 the canopy and open defaults are all I use now. The canopy profile has rtk rtpk agreement required for boundary which is great and makes the odds for a bad solution very low. For topo I make a decision based on variety and time and or rtpk verification level and will stop it when I think its good. For topo, I am always making a decision based on the distance to last. Unless, its the first shot of the day, or I went further than I can estimate the horizontal/vertical change.

Thanks guys. I do have the RTPK set in that profile. Will try with RTPK off and set engine reset. I shot 2500' of road centerline in two hours other day. (medium canopy as in trees with no leaves and no steep banks) I accepted all as RTPK but a big number of them did not agree with RTK I am talking 5' and 9; differences Horizontal and verticals not making sense by couple of feet. I going to try to analyze the differences and maybe reshoot some with the suggested changes.
Hope others that visit the forum and do not have Javad equipment do not take my questioning as throwing criticism of the equipment. On the contrary, I have never been happier and more productive than I am now. But to be honest, the support on this forum is probably the most valuable asset of owning this gear. Thank you again. Mike

I have found with ls+ and t3 a quick rtpk solution not in agreement with rtk is not good enough. Often the rtpk solution revises after more data collected. I have observed a quick rtk solution many times is closer to the position. I would try Matt's advice, if not updating to 4.0.

Look forward to 4.0, but not ready to jump in yet.

I like to keep RTPK on in my open profile so that if I push into a slightly less open area that doesn't immediately get to the Variety count I have set, then RTPK can kick in. I ignore it in most circumstances and if minimum time is off, many times I don't have enough data for the LS to even attempt an RTPK solution, unless I am pushing it near canopy.

Great information. How many epochs do set in "how to stop", I have 10 epochs set.
If you change your variety as Matt suggested, and change rtpk environment category, then 10 epochs is still fine. It will not automatically end until all requirements are met. So it will keep clicking away until 1.3 variety is reached, and after 1 min or whatever rtpk you set it will start trying rtpk if variety hasn't been met. You could end up with hundreds of epochs before it stops itself. So then you might stop it yourself if you get 2-3 rtpk that agree, even if variety has not been met.

Or i assume if rtk and rptk are close to the same position but neither has gone the duration you could feel good enough about a topo shot

Used the settings on the profile as Matthew suggested and shot 4000' of centerline of hilly curving road yesterday. Overlaid the RTK points on the county aerial and looks real good as to position and elevations. Ken and Duane, I left RTPK on like you said just to compare, but used that as just as a feel good display when they agree. I think the variety at 1.3 and the engine reset was the key in my setup. You guys are the best, thank you Mike

Glad that worked out. Better to be right that fast and it’s great if you can be right and fast. 4000’ of road is a good days work when it’s got trees on both sides.
