Triumph-2 and HPT401BT

Hello my name is Danang from Indonesia,
I am having problem connecting Triumph-2 with HPT401BT as base station , the blueetooth connection between HPT401BT and T2 always failed , previously we used the HPT401BT paired with Triumph 1, do we need to unpaired HPT401BT with Triumph 1, first ?

Yes. You will need to hook your HPT401BT to modemVU and switch the radio from slave to master (it has been a little while since I have done that it maybe the other way around). This will unpair it. They you can use your LS to pair your T2 with your radio.

If you have the USB cable for the modem you can pair the modem to the Triumph 2 using the Triumph LS. Plug modern in to the LS. Go to base rover setup and connect by Bluetooth to triumph 2. Select communication parameters tile. You should then get a prompt to pair.

Did you try using the Bluetooth option to pair them in Bade/Rover Setup? It should work I believe. I have paired radios with it successfully.

From the second Home Screen of Triumph-LS, Select Base Rover Setup

Connect to Base Receiver

If there is no modem paired to the external base receiver, you will see this message. With a Triumph-1(1M), with internal radio, you will not see this message.

From this screen, select the Communication tile on the left side of the screen. (Press anywhere in the square).

You will be taken to this screen. Select the second screen button (either UHF or 915 Configuration depending on the hardware).

If there is no modem paired, you will see this prompt. With a Triumph-1(1M), with internal radio, you will not see this message.

If the modem is not paired to another device, you can select the Bluetooth option. The LS will connect to the modem via Bluetooth and establish the parameters for pairing. If the modem is paired to another device, you will need to use the USB method. This requires the user to connect the Access Data-USB-Power Cable http://www.javad.com/dynamic/Shop/Product/2134. Connect USB end to LS and press USB.

For Bluetooth Method, User will be prompted to select Modem from list.

With a Triumph-1(1M), with internal modem, you will need to select Pair at the bottom of this screen.

From here, the pairing process is automated. The user will see this screen:
00341_External_Radio_Pairing_20160115-15.36.38.png

And once completed, the user will see this screen.
00341_External_Radio_Pairing_20160115-15.37.14.png

After pressing OK. The user will be returned to the Base Rover Setup Screen and the connection to the base receiver will intentionally be disconnected and reconnected. You should be ready to continue with Base Rover Setup with your newly paired modem.

Matt and Shawn,

thanks for your guidance. i have done with it. the problem is HPT's bluetooth destination must be reset (i type 0000000000) using modemVu before connect to the other receiver.

I got my Triumph 2 back last week from San Jose (they replaced the cover), Today was the first time I had tried to use the HPT35BT radio since I got it back. Apparently the T2 got unpaired from my radio somehow. I tried to pair it in the field using the above steps but it would not find the radio via bluetooth. Is the pairing from base setup functional in version 9.1809? I was way out of cell service so I put the radio and T2 up and did what I needed using Code Float and my Robot. A side note the code float worked really well, all points I staked out in the woods were within a foot or two of the Total station measurements. I could have gotten away with just using the code float for what I was doing. From Shawns post above it looks like I may need to use the USB connection to unpair and then repair the two, is this right?. My question is why would have the T2 lost its pairing? Do they do a reset on the Triumph 2 when they are in for this replacement?

Short answer is yes. With the USB pairing in the LS now, I always keep the USB y cable with me in my kit. The USB procedure is bullet proof. Bluetooth procedure is conditional.

I just did the pairing via the cable and it tells me that the radio is paired, but no connection is made in the base setup screen and then it tells me External Radio is not connected. Is there another step I need to take?

Bluetooth pairing should work as long as the radio and receiver are not already paired, in that case they must be unpaired or paired through the USB cable.

Do I need to use ModemVu to unpair or should it unpair thru the LS? I have inserted the USB cable into my computer and opened ModemVU. I tried usb connection and com 1 in ModemVU but it didnt work. What port should we use?

You could try clearing the NVRAM of the T2. Use Windows Device Manager to determine the port and be sure to run ModemVU as an administrator. ModemVU does not unpair the radio however, Netview can.

To unpair then you will need to switch your radio from slave to master (or vise versa I don't remember which one it is currently set on) in ModemVU. Once this has been done then the standard pairing process in the LS will work to pair the two again.
