TRIUMPH LS PHOTOGRAMMETRY

Hi Duane, the photogrammetry features are actively being worked on now. I have just recently tested the camera calibration function and a function that measures the angle between two selected points in a photo. These two features are very close to being done and I would think they will probably be released to everyone soon.

The "Visual Angle" tool prompts for 2 points to be selected in a photo. It then calculates the angle, vertical angle and horizontal angle between those 2 points.

My understanding of the "Photogrammetry" tool is that it will require us to take 3 photos of an object from 3 different positions. We will store a survey point at these 3 positions which will be associated with the photos. We then select the object in the photos that we want to locate and a point will be calculated and created at its location.

I took some training on softcopy many years ago.
I can only imagine the technical challenges to adapt the LS to
relate the surveyed position, camera (calibrated), and images to obtain precise measurement.
I look forward to this feature and testing/using it.
The surprises from Javad just keep on coming!!

The photogrammetry tool (renamed to Camera Offset Survey) is currently undergoing testing and documenting. It will be available in the next public build (unless any serious problems are discovered); it requires separate OAF option "Photogrammetry".

Will the Camera Offset Survey photo option be available to test before the trial period ends and will it be an extra cost option upon purchase? I notice the Icon is there now just not active. This option has the most potential for my daily work.

I think a temporary OAF should be able to be given to users who want try Camera Offset Survey. After that I believe you will have to purchase this option if you want to keep it. I will look into it. Duane I'm curious what you would use this feature for?

Matt,
If it works as I envision it should, would be locating a lot of mapping grade features, trees, fence posts, outbuildings, etc. that are under canopy fringes that we now use the total station for. Ideally those feature could be selected and created viewing the photos in the office that would save trips back to the site to verify or locate a missing utility pole etc.
