Triumph LS power issues and system freezes

I powered down in Windows yesterday with 12 hours on the battery. Powered up this morning with 2 hours remaining. Just thought I would let you know.

Hi Bill,
Our Test Team tested Triumph-LS power off both scenarios: directly from J-Field and through exit to Windows and then forced power off by 15 seconds of power buttons. They did not found any serious power drain in both cases.
As far as I can imagine, they used the latest released software modules versions:
J-field: 1.10.3.19455
PowerFW: 0.1.8.6
WinCE OS: 7.0.51.0
Could you, please, check on your device in Home->Home->System->Versions screen, if your Triumph-LS has the same firmware versions of modules, mentioned above?
If you have different/earlier versions, could you, please, try update your device to everything latest, by connecting device to Internet by Ethernet cable or by WiFi and invoke Home->Support->Software Update menu?

Hello Sergey,
My Triumph LS has the software modules shown above. My problem is that since the update of the power last week. There are times that it will not power down using the software. At least every other day I have to do the forced power off. I have not had this problem since last summer.

Hello Bob,
Thank you for information. Yes, we know about this problem: Triumph-LS sometimes do not power down using the software. If this happen, you can use "forced power off". We are fixing this problem now, so, it may be fixed in next software version release, I believe.
With you Triumph-LS having softwre modules shown above, do you see any serious problem with batteries power drain in OFF mode?
Our tests show about 50% battery drain (from fully charged battery) after 1 month in OFF state. We continue to improve this in future software versions.

Sergey,
No I do not see any serious problem with the batteries draining off. If I don't use the LS on any given day, then the hours remaining drops about an hour per day.
Thanks
Bob

Today I was working on a new project, running LS rover with my Triumph-1 base in UHF beast mode. Things were going good for about an hour until I got closer to the base station, and suddenly the LS goes dark with the upper battery light on right is steady green, upper left is red, and lower left is flashing yellow. I could only recover by holding down the power button for a forced reboot. It was about 35F ambient temperature the whole time and both units were freshly charged. The same thing happened to me last Thursday afternoon, but it happened soon after starting the base, so I was again close to the base (within 30ft) that time as well. Both times I was only able to regain UHF connection after scanning frequency list, and coming back to Collect preview, and then I could continue surveying. Both of these hiccups cost me about ten minutes each time. Anybody have any ideas, or does my LS have a gremlin in it?

There is a bug with UHF profiles not being initiated correctly after rebooting the LS. A fix will be released soon. In the meantime you can power cycle the UHF power off and on from the UHF status screen to fix it after rebooting.

Thanks Matt,

I'm still concerned about the unexpected going dark issue, forcing me to hard reboot. Like I said it's a time killer.

Using Remote Assistance, do you think it would be possible for someone at JAVAD to look over any system event logs (I know the dates and times it occurred), which may give an explanation for the two occurrences I have experienced so far?

If you post receiver serial number and dates when the crashes happened someone may be able to look at the crash reports which should be automatically sent to the development team when you have an internet connection. Were you using any of the camera features when the crashes happened?

Hi Matt,

Okay, I'm connected to JAVAD GNNS Server, my serial number is 00547,

First occurrence was last Thursday, 2-4-2016, at 14:35 local (I'm UTC-5) in
Project: 19-062-049.0-100.00 (16-27121), just after starting the base point name, 313Base_2, in RTK UHF Beast mode. Not sure if I had any camera options turned on.

Second occurrence was last Sunday, 2-6-2016, at 17:40local in
Project: Howardnursery, about an hour into RTK surveying (RTK UHF Beast mode) after accepting, point name S1024, my next point after reset was S1025. I think I had it recording screen shots and bottom camera.

Hi...3rd attempt to use the Victor-LS to do RTK. Earlier it would say it wasn't connected to the external radio and freeze for a while. When it unfroze I did a reboot. Has been frozen in Reboot ever since, 15-20 minutes. No keys work. Responds to nothing. Is there a reset button? Can I pull a battery out and put back in? What do I do?

This problem solved. Hold down on/off button 10 secs! Never seen one so long but that did it. On to next problem.
