Unable to pair T3 with external HPT435BT radio

I have been able to do this in the past but it's probably been 2-3 months since I opted for the extra punch of the external radio. Today when I tried to use it I could not get my T-LS rover / T3 base combo to utilize the 35w radio. I had everything off, fired up the radio, then the base, and then the T-LS. I tried several times and cleared the NVRAM on the base several times but always wind up with the internal radio being utilized by the base. Has something changed? I believe all of my software is up to date.

Thanks,
Dave

There was a recent change that hopefully will be made more user friendly. You must now specify external or internal radio. In base rover setup click left side panel (communication parameters) click base connection setup. Select external.

Thanks Shawn.

Based on some other threads that was a clue I pursued. I tried to see if that was available several times but that particular box doesn't exist for me. I am running the release version of J Field. I wonder if a recent update somehow is requiring me to set up the 35w radio parameters. I can post a couple of screenshots later on.

Here are a couple of screen photos if they help anyone. Sorry for the poor quality.

Did you tap in the box on the left where it shows the uhf info before connecting Bluetooth. Then tap base connection and set radio to external. Looks like you tapped the box above the coordinate info in the first pic.

Thanks Adam. You're right about the sequence of the first pic. I am sure I did what you suggested several times.

I just now powered up my T-LS and hit the left UHF box, no base connected yet, hit base connection setup and got a screen identical to the 2nd pic.

Any chance that my format selection of TRCM3.2MSM3short precludes the ability to have an external radio?

Are you up to date on the release version? It's in prerelease but I thought it had gone to release recently.

Hello Mr. Simolo,

In order to investigate the issue and to find better solution, we would like to ask for a remote session.
Please follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the Triumph-LS to Internet.
  2. Go to Support->Remote Assistance.
  3. Set Password and press Connect.
  4. Write in this thread the password and S/N of Triumph-LS.

Notes:
Please make sure, that the distance among Тriumph-3, HPT435BT and Triumph-LS is accordingly 2-3 meters.
Connect external power to Тriumph-3, HPT435BT and Triumph-LS.

Thanks Armen,
I have done what you said. S/N 00222, password 1234
I'll be able to leave it on for 3 hours then I will need it for the day.
I appreciate the help.

We have paired successfully HPT435BT with the Triumph-3:

Please use External Radio for working with the Triumph-3 + HPT435BT and Internal if you want to use the internal radio of T-3:

We recommend to set the output power of HPT35BT to the highest level in a field:

Thanks Armen.
Just so others know it appeared to me that you updated me to the pre-release version of J-Field and then had to re-establish my T3's Bluetooth connection to the external 35w radio. Please correct me if I am wrong or if there is anything else you wish to add.
I really appreciate the great support, you guys rock!

Having a similar issue with Triumph 3 and HPT404BT. I was able to connect T3 and radio using netview and modem but they won't pair in base setup through the LS+. I have base radio set to external as stated above. Running pre-release 3.0.9.439 on the LS+, T3 firmware is 4.0.00-200818. Am I missing a step somewhere? There's no guide that I've found for how to actually do this with the T3 and LS+.

Correction: It appears I was only connecting to the internal T3 radio modem, not the HPT404BT through netview and modem. It appears there is no option to pair via bluetooth, only daisy chain.

Yep, saw that. I'm guessing the issue is that I don't have any way to cable directly to my workstation in order to communicate with the radio. After a thorough re-reading it sounds like I need the serial-usb-power cable.

Currently my only option to connect is through bluetooth.
