I am having trouble using ModemVu to update my radio. Support Team says to use J-Field. Can anyone explain how to go about that?
Thanks!

Do you have a USB cable that plugs into the HPT401BT? It will have the 15pin port on one end and USB on the other. If so, plug the USB into the LS, and plug the 15pin into the modem, them go to Software update screen. The first thing J-Field does not is detect if a radio is plugged into the LS and then determines if it needs a firmware update. It's very slick and painless. If you don't have that cable, I'd recommend getting one as it is much easier than using ModemVU.

The cable is available on Javad's website:

Thanks Shawn. I have it hooked up and the radio is on. But the software update screen just says that my LS is updated and says nothing about the modem.

Exit the update screen and go in again. You need to have the radio connected and on before going into the software update screen.

AhHa!! I had to go into settings in Software Update and put a check the external radio box. It's updating now. Thanks for your help!

I've had my system for a little over a year and I've never been in here. But I will now! I see you guys discussing things that I didn't even know were possible! I just updated my LS, T-2 and now the radio. So I have a feeling I will be here getting it all working together again.

Anything and everything you can, want and need to know Chuck, you can find in here. If someone doesn't have the answer immediately, they will find it for you. There's two main cogs to this Javad equipment. 1st, it flat out works where nothing else will - and it's not even close. 2nd, the support and design team is nothing like I've ever seen in 27 years of owning survey equipment!
The best thing is, with the way these guys continue to change and improve things is, as great as it is now, how much better is it going to be in 3 months - 1 year - 5 years. The possibilities seem endless.

Welcome to the boards!
