usb limitations

I purchased a 64 GB gorilla drive usb a few weeks back. It works in my computer and my Carlson mini data collector. The Triumph LS does not see it for some reason. All my other usb drives are seen by the Triumph LS. Does anyone know what might be the cause? It is usb 2.0, which should work with the LS.

It may not help but....
In order for a usb drive to work, it usually has to install a driver off that thumb drive, onto the device, or drive.
It may take a bit of time to install the driver. Or, it may not be recognising the driver.
Try a different thumb drive, or a smaller one.
Not all thumb drives are compatible, with everything.
I think it's the drivers.
I had a thumb drive that the ls would not recognise. But, I don't remember anything about it.

How is the file system formatted on this drive? It needs to be FAT32 to work with the LS. If it is not you can use Windows Disk Management to reformat it.

Try plugging it in while the home screen is up. Then go to file or data exchange. Mine wont see usb drive if I plug it in after I hit file. Hope this helps

Must be something with the usb drive. If I click back and forth on the screen sometimes it shows up and sometimes not, doesn't seem to matter when I put it in or what screen. Thanks for the ideas.

A poor connection between the contacts will do this...
Maybe pocket lint, or contamination of the connection.
Maybe spray with electrical parts cleaner, and allow to dry. (zero residue cleaner).
Or, things are just not connecting well...
Maybe a faulty thumb drive.

we support fat32. You can't format your media on Windows to have more than 32Gb partition with an OS native tools. So for Windows people we have this 32Gb limit.
If you are "Linux guy" and able to format media(SD or USB) to ext3, ext4, then you should not have any issues on LS. At least I have tested SD card of 512GB successfully.
If you have ext3 or ext4 formatted media inserted into LS then you can use microUSB connector of LS to see remote drive on your PC(linux or windows) to copy data from remote media.
