What format of ACAD is being exported now?

I had some linework, recent job. Went to import it. And, it is a "Wrong Version" of autocad.
I'm running CARLSON 2009. It is using ACAD 12, I am pretty sure. Importing line work USED to work, but it seems not now.
Would it be possible to put a SELECT ACAD VERSION, in the export feature?
thank You,
Nate

OK, I just bought a program called anydwg.com
Cost 75$. And, it allows me to convert pretty well anything to anything.
It's what I needed. It's quite simple.
Thank you,
Nate

Have you tried DWG Trueview from Autodesk? It's free and can convert between any of the standard versions. Possibly a moot point if you've found a good solution already, but may be handy for anyone else looking to do the same sort of conversion.

I tried to use True view. It was a large download, and when trying to install it, the PROGRAM said my computer was not sufficient.
I gave up.
The software above is small, fast, and efficient. Not much or any bloatware.

Fair enough. I agree, Trueview is a pretty heavy program to employ for simple tasks. I suppose it's probably good for preserving AECC objects and display integrity of Civil3D stuff. But for simply converting between formats, it's good to know there are options other than the name brand.

True view took 1-1/2 hrs to download. It was 844 megabytes. That's excessive. Just a conversion utility? Naw. There's something wrong with that picture. And, it NEEDS huge resources? I don't know their goals, but they are not mine.

With the ability now to import CAD surfaces into the LS, I’d make sure that the $75 converter program doesn’t manipulate a surface back down to polylines. But if you don’t have a need for this feature, i would say you are fine.

Sam, you have an important point. Mostly, I do BOUNDARY work. So, it probably won't entangle me. BUT, I'll keep that in mind. I aim to just jump to Carlson 2022, and that will solve it. New hardware, and all new software. Yes. It's inevitable. Ya never get too old to learn, but it is a CONSUMER of time to learn.

J-Field supports DWG 2010 or early file version.

I believe I bought acad 2012. And merged it with Carlson 09. I could be wrong, but that’s my memory. I’ll go looking for settings, to choose my version, for export etc.
thank you.

Have a gander at these screens, and see if you have the options found in the "More" screen (starting at the third screenshot).

No problem at all. This was one of those "I know I'm gonna need to learn this sooner or later" items, so I'm glad I could help cross it off both of our lists. (Thanks to Shawn for pointing in the right direction)

Thanks also to the folks who set up the Live Demo/"Virtual Roadshow" unit (despite its expired options), which is where I poked around to figure this one out while I await the arrival of my LS+ with immeasurable patience. :)
