Where Have You Been with Your LS Lately?

I can not believe I was able to get an RTK shot here I had planned to just use PPK but I'll take it if I can get it.

I shot this 5/8" rebar at the Northwest base of this 36" pine tree (blocking much of the Southern sky). Overhead canopy was pretty significant, mixed deciduous and pine. It took a shade over 11 minutes.

This screen shot shows why it's probably good to open up the confidence guard a bit. There were two fixes that were actually in the same fix region but were separated because they weren't within the default values for the confidence guard. It took a little over 8 minutes to get passed Phase 1 (495 seconds recorded).

PPK on this point differed from RTK by:
N -0.006, E -0.021, U +0.011

It wasn't luck either. After calculating and evaluating adjoining surveys, I discovered this wasn't the only corner I was looking for in the area. There were two other stakes within a few feet, one was 9 feet Southwest of this and one was 6 feet West. I was able to collect those as well.

A nice "cool" morning in the 60's, Wolfe County, KY not too far from Natural Bridge State Park. I don't find stones too often surveying private land (I have found a lot on National Forest lands). This morning I found 2 marking the ends of a line created in a 1948 family division. One down in a hollow and one on the ridge.

Looks like you are enjoying not having to traverse anymore.

It's nice to shoot 1500' of line in about 4 hours without cutting brush except for around the monuments. One thing I've noticed now using this system is that when walking between corners I only have to focus on looking for boundary evidence and not also looking where to cut line and place the setups. Less likely to overlook something, especially when you can't traverse right up against the boundary.

Of course, there's a water mocosine in there somewhere.
And, as I think about it, could we get a high powered laser installed on the LS, to burn a laser hole into a snake, at 15 feet?
