File Format

Hello All:

I am a brand new user and am attempting to learn the language of the programing on my LS ...

I will address my "connectivity" problems elsewhere but now I am working on uploading a txt file ...

I connected the LS to my desktop, copied the file to the VS folder, renamed the fields and created a new preset ... everything looked fine until I hit NEXT ... it appears the program does not like the text in my description field .... is this a field type that can be changed? I am not finding any answers in 'The Book".

I need to change the field type to text since, when I download the file, I want to be able to bring it in and reduce it in AutoCAD with my desktop software ... all of my line codes are txt ... point codes are numeric ..

In the description field in import the LS typically just has a (5) where the others actually say Point, North, East, U {meaning elevation}. If you tap on the 5 it will give you the opportunity to change it to "description". Then you should see your uploaded TXT file descriptions show up.

I have that field labeled "description", and the text is showing in that field .... but when I hit the next button I get the warning " ... file either contains coordinates which are invalid for the current Page coordinate system or has invalid lines (text instead of numbers) ..." I guess I assumed the text in the "description" field was the problem.

My coords are ILSP West Zone Harn ... the page says it is WGS84 ... do I need to change that .... and if so .... how? Is there a list somewhere that I can select my coord system for that page?

Now that we've got your coordinate system setup and your points imported successfully,when you get those RTN NTRIP credentials, just give me or any of my colleagues a call and we'll work to quickly get you up and running.
