Javad Mobile Tools (iOS)

Mr. Johnson,
I am near the end of my Truimph LS trail, and I believe that I am going to make the purchase of an LS and Truimph-2 system.
I have been successful in using the LS in RTK rover mode using corrections from both the Triumph-2 and the California CRTN via NTRIP connection.
I have two questions, the first of which is, hopefully, a settings issue and the second a bit more involved.
First, I want to use the Truimph2 with my iPhone 6+ and to be able to send data to OPUS and to DPOS from that iPhone. For the life of me I cannot get the iPhone and the Triumph-2 to communicate. When I start the iPhone app Javad Mobile Tunes for iPhone, I am greeted with a connection screen that indicated "connecting….wrong login/password." I’ve used both 0000 and 1234 which I have seen during one setup procedure or another, to no avail. Can you help?
The second question pertains to performing a localization using multiple known points when not using the Triumph-2 as my base. I’ve been able to localize using the Triumph-2 with the “move base” routine, and the appropriate measured points are adjusted to the design points I have, but that routine does not appear to be appropriate nor did it give me the proper results when I tried it. What I mean is once I have paired all of the appropriate design and measured points and selected 1, 2 or 3D for each set, I am left with “moving” the CRTN base point. Is this possible? Is that the intent?
I am really most concerned about the iOS issue, at this point. It seems like a setting that needs to be corrected, to me.
Thanks for your time and help.

Hi Ralph,

I'm glad you like Triumph LS, it is a great system and software improvements are being made everyday.

For the iOS app did you first connect your phone to the Triumph-2 through wifi as described from this excerpt in the manual:
For your questions about locations, since you not using the Triumph-2 as a base I assume you are connecting to a RTN? Are you following the Multiple Point Localization routine shown on page 259 of the manual? If so you need to choose "Save localization Parameters" rather than "Adjust Base Position" once you have it setup. The "Adjust Base Position" function should only be used for the single point localization routine as described in the manual.

Regards,

Matt Johnson

Matt,
Thank you for the information. I was able to connect to my Triumph-2 and started and stopped several sessions, using the iPhone as the controller.
I was, also, able to export one of the collected files to DPOS and received a report with coordinates for the point I had sent.
I have several questions.
When one sets the occupation time in the surveying screen, does that stop the survey and close the file automatically? I see that the timer continues to update, beyond the occupation time setting. When a session has reached the occupation time limit set, Is the Close File operation still needed? The “Rec” icon at the top of the page continues to blink, after the Occupation Time limit is surpassed.
I reestablished a connection between the phone and the Triumph-2 several times, as practice, and was successful each time. Unfortunately, after a couple of tries, after closing and downloading the current file, my attempts to go to the OPUS module cause the APP to crash and close, losing the WIFI connection in the process, sometimes. I have restarted the phone and the Triumph-2 but I get the same result. Where do the files go when they are downloaded to the iPhone? Maybe I have run out of room, wherever they are being stored (not likely as this is a 16GB iPhone).
After a bit more trial and error, every time I access the OPUS button the APP minimizes and the WIFI connection is lost (sometimes). Now when I try to download the collected file, the APP displays a spinning circle around what looks like a pause icon but does not complete whatever it is doing. No file is downloaded, apparently.
It appears that something has changed in the last few minutes. I am almost there.

Hi Ralph,

I took a look at this and see the same thing when I try it. Some of the features in the app are still in development and need further work. I will forward your comments to the developer of the app so he can work on fixing these issues and hopefully they will be fixed in the next update.

The files are stored internally on your iPhone. If you connect to iTunes you can viewed the stored files on your phone by clicking the Apps tab and then scrolling to the bottom of the page where "File Sharing" is listed. If you then click the JAVAD you and view the files. iTunes will also show you the free storage remaining on your iPhone.

I am not sure why you are having this problem. You might want to try a hard restart of the phone by holding down the home key and power button. Let me know if you able to get it working or have anymore questions.
Also there is a youtube video showing how to use the app: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIoWfIiMyzQ. It seems like you have figured it out already though.
Thanks
Matt

Matt,
After having no good result from deleting Javad files from the iPhone, I reinstalled the APP from the app store and now I appear to have a different set of problems to deal with. Latest version is quite a bit different. Screens changed and a bunch of new stuff.
I can still connect to the Triumph-2 and I am able to collect data, although the timer screen has gone away entirely.
Uploading JPS files to DPOS fails with an upload error. Sending to OPUS results in “Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand”
Getting late. Maybe more tomorrow. Should I be communicating this to Javad?
Thanks,

Hi Ralph,

Yes it would be better if you could post these things in the User Forum at http://support.javad.com/index.php?forums/android-ios-tools.9/

Thanks
Matt
