RAMS Help

Javad Team,

When both the LS and my phone are on the same WIFI network, I am able to use RAMS and it is quite slick. I would like to be able to use RAMS in the following scenario: The LS is out in the field, connected to the internet either by a hotspot or SIM card and I am sitting in my cushy office on my computer (connected to the internet) or possibly miles away on another job where I have my smart phone or my laptop connected to the internet through another hotspot. In other words both devices are connected to the internet, but they are not on the same network. Is this possible and if so, could you provide instruction on how to accomplish this?

Thanks for your time!

Thanks Shawn, I must not be doing something right. On my LS, I will connect to the "JAVAD GNSS, INC" Server. On my computer I then went to your link above, and used the "rams.javad.com:8800" server connection. I am able to see LS serial number 164, but not my LS. Please advise.

Joe, I should have added that you need to set the server on the LS to "Custom Server". Then set the server address to rams.javad.com (hit the DN to switch from IP to domain name). Also set the Server Port to 8800. I would definitely use a password as this is the free public server. I don't think anyone would be malicious on the server, but someone might be curious if there is an unprotected receiver on the network.

Yep I see you, but I can't access it with password, just as it should be. Nice. Now you can control this receiver and copy files from it from anywhere in the world provided you have internet access. For surveyors sending a crew out, you could perform cogo, localizations and other sophisticated operations remotely and let them continue on with more generic tasks when you are done. You can also copy txt files and dwg files in and out of the LS if you wanted to work with the data on your PC at the office.

Very powerful indeed! For the upcoming National Surveyor's Week, I plan on participating in NGS/NOAA's GPS on BM Program. I am a lone ranger, so I will occupy two benchmarks at once - one with my LS and the other with my T2. With RAMS configured like this, I can be with the T2 and keep an eye on my LS through RAMS!
