Attributes Screen Freeze/Lag/Slow

I am currently doing a lot of GIS work with the LS. I have been shooting water meters around town and adding attributes to each shot concerning the meter (address, number, size, etc.). I have also been shooting man hole locations for the sanitary sewer system on a seperate LS and adding attributes.

That being said, when I choose a code and edit an attribute within that code, it can take up to 1 minute for the LS to accept what I have typed before I can move on to another attribute. This only happens with certain attributes within certain codes, and it varies between the two LS units.

I have deleted the codes that I have had issues with and created new ones. If I make the code completely different with the same attributes, my problem is resolved. However, if I create a new code but use the same name as the code I just deleted, I still have the same exact issue. I have archived my projects and deleted them off the unit thinking that freeing up space might help speed it up, but it did not help. I have swapped to other jobs and tried the same code that I have problems with, and the same thing occurs. I have updated the units with the released updates as well as the pre release updates and still nothing.

So, is there anything I can do to keep my LS units from lagging or freezing up on those attribute screens? Thanks for any help in advance, I know it is a confusing question.

Hello Kyle. Could you do archive the Project (Files / Archive Current Project), the Codes export (Codes & Tags / Export / Export Codes to a Text File) and tell the Code name with issue?

Sometimes a name has a meaning that's not apparent to the end user. I use BricsCAD for CAD, and have hundreds of custom AutoLISP functions that I've written over the years. All except one work without problem, but there's one that I named "br" (it inserts a bike rack block) that will not work unless I load it twice. There's no native "br" command, and I've scoured both my own files and the BricsCAD alias file to see where the conflict lies, to no avail. If I rename the function it works first time every time, but under the "br" name it only works after loading it a second time. Without that second load it does nothing, simply returns to the command prompt. I finally renamed it "brx" to work around the problem. You may be dealing with a similar issue.

I often edit code and attributes while the LS is collecting just to maximize the time occupying the point. I've noticed lately that sometimes there is a delay of a second or two after I enter an attribute. Popping stops and screen freezes. A minor annoyance and nowhere near the problem that Kyle reports. I've never noticed whether it's only certain codes/attributes that delay. I'll pay attention to that now.

@Andrey Zhiganov

I have done both of your recommendations. I pulled the text file of the codes up on the computer and the one I am having trouble with doesn't seem to have any issues with it in the file. I deleted the codes from the unit as well as the code I am having trouble with on the text file, then imported the codes back to the LS. I recreated the code I had issues with and added attributes to it. Same issue. It is like the unit remembers that code and still poses the same problems.

Would a complete factory reset possibly work after I have backed up all my data? Perhaps the LS would "forget" about that code and any issues it has with that code. How can I perform an actual hard reset to factory settings? I have done a reset factory image in the past and it does not actually reset to factory settings.

Kyle, can you attach here the exported Codes file and tell me the Code Name with issue, please?

This is the code file from my second LS unit. I have the same issue with a couple of codes on this unit. Codes WM and MH.

Kyle, when you do codes import (text file) did you check in "Clear everything before import"? It has to clear codes library.

P.S. Perhaps, Favorites Codes should be cleared also. First do the Copy of current profile (Setup / Copy As) and then clear it (Setup / Edit / Favorite Codes / Clear All).

I cannot reproduce the issue. Kyle, please check the follow: hardware button On/Off - Reboot, create new project, go to Codes & Tags and try to do the same manipulations with attribute what you did before. I need to understand is problem with attributes or anything else.

Yes, I have done both of these things in the past and still has not resolved the issues. However, I now have went through and done it again, as well as went to (System / Restore ) and reset everything that I could. Although this has not completely resolved the issue, the unit is now accepting my edited attributes in about 15 seconds as opposed to 1 minute.

I have completed this task, and problem still not resolved. Even on a newly created job after rebooting, the attributes within the codes are still problematic.

Hi, Kyle. Could you connect your receiver to RAMS (Support -> Remote assistance)? Also tell the device serial number and password by for example e-mail.

Kyle, I have checked your logs. It could be that your SD card or SD card interface of your device has problem or incompatibility issue.
Could you perform the test:
- setup saving of screen shots and all other resources to LS internal memory;
- remove SD card from LS slot;
- try to reproduce the issue with LS performance.

Thanks Michael, I changed by saving options to internal memory, removed the SD card, then rebooted the LS. After restarting I went to collections page and edited the attribute within the code, but still having issue. However, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, the LS is accepting the attributes in approximately 15 seconds now as opposed to 1 minute, so that is a plus I suppose.

Have there been any updates to this issues? I have to LS units that have this issue. I completely reset one of them about 2 weeks ago. After putting all my jobs and data back on the unit it began to perform as it should. No delays when accepting attributes. However, 2 weeks have passed and the same issues has arisen. Unit has steadily gotten slower and slower when accepting edited attributes.

We think that we have fixed the issue in the today PreRelease 3.0.4.292 version. But I can't recommend now to switch to the version because it was not tested well.
