Cluster Average Problem

When I'm shooting a point multiple times I use the "Cluster Average" from the points list screen. The first time I do this everything is great and works like it should. But then I'll go and collect more point clusters somewhere else and the second time I want to create averaged points from my new shots, the command tried to redo the ones from the days before - averaging the original 3 shots and the averaged point I computed the last time. Then it will give the point a name of 2001[1], for example. It also tries to average the 2 base points (which are identical coordinates if I'm using a known point for the base) and that's kind of annoying but I don't know if it can be helped.

I have it set to skip existing destination points, but it seems to disregard that command. I recall the point averaging working just fine a while back, so I'm not sure what changed.

Pre existing averages need to be deleted or filtered out of the selection before running cluster average again. I save all averages to a page so I can easily filter and delete them if I need too.

I agree it would be nice if JField would do this for us.

It seems to work for me.

As Adam said, I also put the averaged points on a different page and then you have to turn off the page each time you want to average in the future. I also like to change the name to Avg1 + First Point Name. The next time you average you need to turn off your page with averages again and then name averages Avg2 + First Point Name. I believe you need to change the name every time or else it should skip all of your points being averaged. I usually have a page for AvgRTK and AvgDPOS.

This works well for me but if anyone has more efficient methods let me know.

But isn't the whole point of the "skip existing" option? I understand your method, but you shouldn't have to do all that.

And sometimes the name is completely different on the 2nd go round because it may use the averaged point name from the last average as the first point name in the group depending on how you have it setup for naming.
