Cursor Key (Mis)behavior

I noticed something today that I hadn't seen before, and I don't know if it's "normal" or something new. I do know that it's frustrating.

When I tap one of the cursor keys (> or <) in an edit field (e.g. a point description or export file name), there's a slight pause; the cursor stops blinking momentarily and then responds as expected by moving over 1 character. However, if I tap the key again during the pause, the cursor runs all the way to the end of the field (the start of the field with <, the end of the field with >). Since I often want to move the cursor by more than one character, I usually end up tapping it twice within the pause, which takes the cursor away from where I want it to be.

Is there a setting somewhere that I've unwittingly changed?

Edit: I just updated to the new J-Field version, and the behavior has reverted to normal. I'd still like to know if the phenomenon was due to a user setting or something else, though.

The answer is "something else". The development team was attempting to guard against unintentional double clicks. This, as you saw, produced a rather unpleasant side effect. So the guard was removed.
