External battery required with HPT435BT?

I'm using the 1W radio and am answering a query on the HPT435BT. The data sheet for the HPT435BT doesn't indicate that it has an internal battery.

Does it require one?

And a big one at that, if you plan to use it at full power for any significant length of time.

Jim, that reply leaves me wondering! Shawn provided a link to a Javad battery. Will that battery last a typ working day?

It will generally last about a week on full charge working 5-7 hrs a day in the field from my experience.

I can't comment on the Javad battery, as I use an Optima blue top. And since setting up a TCP arrangement (thanks to a lot of help from John and Shawn!), I haven't needed the UHF connection for over a year.

I have both battery kits. Like Matt said the larger kit will last for days. The smaller kit usually gets me two days at 10 watts.

Weather dependent. 20f sucks for batteries and people.
