Measuring the height of instrument

Since the TLS has a downward facing camera, could it use the known diameter of the circular level to automatically determine the height of instrument? If there is enough resolution, then determine the diameter of the circle in pixels, use some simple geometry, and you have it.

No, just treat it like the rod height, with a field for diameter of circle and another for offset from circle to tip.

On second thought, during calibration, the user enters the height of instrument and height of bubble above ground, and the software calculates the size of the bubble.
