Solar storm?

I was trying to RTK survey yesterday and the LS would get a "receiving" once in a while and then 5- 42 seconds later there would be no connection to the base. I was 30 feet from the base and the radio. after 1 hour of this nonsense, I left the job and went back to the office to check the NOAA solar weather. The setting had worked perfectly the day before. yes I tried hard booting both the LS and T2, it made no difference. When I checked interference, 2/3 of the Satellites had green or red showing.

I don't believe the solar storm would have caused you to lose contact with the base. Are you using UHF? If so, I would suspect that someone might have been transmitting on the UHF frequency you were using. Did you happen to notice if the modem was showing Rx (receive). This would indicate that the base modem was receiving traffic on your selected frequency. The TRIUMPH-LS is equipped with a scanner that allows you to scan for interference on you library of frequencies. You'll want to turn off your base modem before you attempt to scan though, as your base will show as interference.
