Basic Staking Question

Gentlemen,

As an engineer I survey primarily for preparing topographic base maps for my design work as well as as-built drawings at the completion of a project. I have not yet used the LS for staking.

I will be completing soils testing in a 10,000 sq ft area on a rural 100 acre parcel. This site has no natural landmarks that I can use for locating this area.

I want to use the LS to find a single stake in the center of the test area. In general can I load a dwg that contains a grading plan and stake a particular point or is more appropriate to load a file with only the points that I want to stake? The grading plan is 3.6 MB.

Load the dwg on new page and simply use staking function for the point in question? Sounds too easy but I'm finding that's the benefit of using the LS.

If you load the whole drawing it sounds like there will be 1000s of points and it may crash the system. Only load the layers you really need.
