COGO question

I have three points in J-Field, a section corner and the quarter corners to the north and west of it. The section lines are drawn between them. I want to set witness corners on lines between them, 30 feet from the section corner. I thought the fastest way to do this might be to draw a circle around the section corner and stake out the intersections of the circle with the section lines, but J-Field won't let me select the intersections for stakeout. I'm sure there are lots of ways to do this. What's the quickest way?

Snapping to intersections of circles and lines is not supported in CAD yet but is on the to do list. You can use the Offset CoGo function with 0 offset to do what you want.

What about just staking to a line from the section corner to the quarter corner? Set your point at station 0+30. Change to the other line and do it again.

Sure John. If I understand your question correctly, you have 3 points, a section corner, and the 1/4's north and west of it. So like the SE corner of the section and the East and South 1/4? For explanation sake, allow me to use that layout, and lets say the S.1/4 is point #10, the SE. corner is #20 and the E.1/4 is #30. You want to set 2 WC's at 30 feet on each line from the section corner. So from #10 to #20, and from #30 to #20. I would do it this way:
Go into Stake from the Home screen.
Directly under the Build button is one labeled Stake Line. Chose that.
Chose Line by 2 Points.
For P1 press and hold until the keypad shows up. Type in 20 then OK.
Do the same for P2 but chose 10, then OK.
Now chose Stake in the lower right corner.
Your normal Stake screen will show, but with a Station and Offset shown at the top of the main window. In the field, just navigate to 0+30, with a 0 offset. You are on the line from the SE section corner to the S.1/4, 30 feet away.
