Dist To Last

Whoever it was that asked for "Dist to Last" needs a good handshake. GOOD REQUEST.
Now, what about Adding BRG to Last?
-------------------------------------------------------------

And, while we are at it....What about also adding one that says Brg-Dist to Point. (Here, you can simply hold the button down, and the ENTER a point number, and now as you move about, and work, you know your actual brg and dist from ANY point, you choose? It's like a COMBINED Collect, and STAKE together. Mostly used to recon with a shovel and metal detector.

And, another that gives Sta-Off
And, it also works as a recon tool. Gives you station and offset, in COLLECT. Once again, HOLD down the button, that says STA-OFF, (On the page of white button selections) and you get to enter 2 points. Then, go back to collect, and you get a little read out of STATION and offset, to assist with recon.

Sorry, folks. IF I can ever find an equipment mfr that will make it, we can have a world class system!

I still want to be able to add in ANY pre recorded noise I want, for when it gets a shot!

How would you like it to play Bethoven's 5th symphony, (a few bars of it) when It gets a shot?

That way, you can be doing other things, and just listen for the music.

As we move toward MORE solo surveyors, we also want/need more audio feedback.

My sound is broke right now. I miss it. I have to keep staring at it. Imagine trying to shoot the top corners of a house, or mobile home, with NO SOUND to determine when it is done? Or having not enough sound, so you cannot tell, in a noisy environment? Another option could be that the flashlight on the bottom flashes every 10 seconds, AFTER it gets the shot? That would be great for noisy places.

I'm just full of ideas, huh?

Nate, why don't you like going to the Stake screen to view bearings and distances to points and station/offsets of lines?

That was what I did. I had tied into a corner, and wanted to FIND the one 100 ft away, in a pile of trash. We finally took the ATV, and hooked on the rolled up hog wire fencing, and pulled it away.
I used stake, to get to the right distance, and made a mark. Then, I went back through, and staked another point (to accomplish a D/D int on the ground) and finally found the buried marker. My goal is to reduce keystrokes, while the neighbor, (Who is hostile) is waiting for any excuse to call cops, or pull her gun. The simpler the better.

We have a Distance-Distance CoGo function which I think would be easier than trying to stake points on ground. You can also draw 2 circles in the review screen and graphically see where they intersect. To switch to staking a point in Stake screen I only count 3 keystrokes excluding typing in the point name:

Stake hardware button>long click Select Point>OK

I think it is reasonable to request using the Point Name user defined button to select new points to stake in the Stake screen. Tapping it could bring up the the keyboard for direct entry of a new point to stake.

Also note that we have a PDelta user defined button option. It is similar to Distance to Last but allows any reference point to be selected. Using it you would be able to view the distances to two different points in the Stake screen.

OK, I will try that.
As a surveyor, working with deeds, written by folks that should really stay away from the ink pot, I want my surveying computer to require less putton presses. More button presses, means more error potential, for me, in the woods!

I consider my self at this point to be a 10% Javad user. I have MUCH to learn. After I get to 50%, then I'll think I have arrived. THEN I'll learn something new! (This is the way it should be!)
Raining here. Almost got an Australian outback oiled long riding coat today. Makes me wonder. Should the LS have a RAIN GUTTER, (Across the front side) to work in the rain?

The coat was just right size... unless I put on 2 coats under it. Then, it's too small. I sorta think a larger one would be better.

Rain gutter across the front of the LS. HMMMM

I just tried out using Offsets white button. This is an important item that would probably make a good addition to the next version of the User Manual. They're probably going to have a separate chapter on the white boxes. I'm going to quote Matt here to start:

--------Quoted from another thread---------
When you want to shoot an offset, set one of your white boxes to offset. It will bring up a symbol that looks like the one in COGO. If you tap on that offset icon in the collect screen then hit direct, you can tap on the P1 at the top and survey the offset point and it will ask if you want to store that point. Hit yes and it will take you back to the cogo screen. Tap on the angle tab. There is a button that says from camera. Point the crosshairs at what you are offsetting and press the check mark on the right and hit apply. It should kick you back out to the cogo screen. You can then enter your distance and you will want to check the point number and code/description of the point. Then hit create.

This will create a surveyed point where you want it.

I went to try it out, and it's really great. One update to Matt's description above, the button he calls "from camera" now says "Set by Compass", but otherwise he's spot on. Again thanks Matt, this really opens things up.
