How to speed up my LS....

When I change screens, or stakeouts, it takes a long time. How do I speed it up?

It has about 5000 points in this job. I'd like to speed it up. Sometimes it takes over a minute to make changes.

Thanks

Hi Nate,
It sounds as if your LS has a lot of 'projects' still in memory. Can you archive and delete 'old projects' from the unit ?
Freeing up internal storage will help out :)

It has about 35 projects on board.
Some are very old ones. I LEAVE them on the LS at all times... Because I may need to use them again... and again.
Now, my question.
On HARD DRIVES, files become fragmented. The LS uses some sort of "Hard Drive", with no moving parts. (Maybe comparable to a Solid State Drive?)
So, IF I back up all the Files on the LS. Then, Delete all files on the LS, and RE-Install them, will this "Defrag" the Memory in the LS, Speeding it up?
Or, is there a "Defrag" option available to the LS?
Quite bluntly, I have taken about 2 weeks off, just to get my head back on... been driving the chariot furiously for too long. Need a break. I'm doing maintenance, and just trying to deal with the "LIST" of items I routinely ignore....
This is one that bothers me... ie, my slowed LS.

Thanks for any advice I can get.

Doing full backup right now...

Nate,
I'm terrible at file management on the LS. I typically remove old projects when I see performance starting to slip. Having said that, you might consider archiving those projects you want to keep handy and putting them on a USB thumb drive that you keep in the truck. Then if you need one of them, you can easily retrieve it to the LS without actually keeping it on the LS.

Just a thought. Hope you're doing well.

Thanks Shawn.
Ive stored all 30 jobs, and now I'm deleting all projects.
I'll put back in it the ones I need. MAYBE that will clean things up.
I SURE wish there was an LS-2 in the wings, with newer screen, and a complete update of the hardware, and that SOFTWARE development in the LS was continuing.

Thanks

Hi Nate,
The TLS 'JFIELD' data collector' is pretty darn solid, and is very capable in its current rendition, yes?
JAVAD do still support the 'JFIELD' s/w, it is just that there is no need for any real changes or improvements the past year or so.

Had a customer this week reporting issues with TLS 'response time'.
On investigation, they had 15 pages of project files dating back to 2021 still stored inside the TLS . . .

Plus over 250 'base files' stored on the T-3 'base' (that they had already transferred over to the TLS 'rover' projects) . . .

While I purge the LS+ pretty regular of job files...I have never done the T3. I assume this is done by connecting the two and browsing to a file folder in the T3 to delete archaic base files etc?

My LS/LS+ was never updated to the " new" format of data collection software....is the T3 update something I should still do for an increase in productivity or would the update just cause an incompatibly issue with the LS/LS+?

I usually roll with "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mindset unless it offers a benefit large enough to offset the learning/troubleshooting curve and downtime that is sure to follow.

Hi Ken,

Using the JAVAD NetView 'application', the T-3 'base' log files can be 'archived' or 'deleted' as required . . .

just an update. I took an old file, 5k Points. And exported the file. Deleted it in the LS. Re installed it in the LS.
It is faster now. I also deleted all the files, and am only putting active ones in the LS. So, this could be contributing too.

So, it appears to Fragment on the LS to some extent.
This is an old file, that has been in the LS for a long time.

I downloaded NetView x64 and the USB driver, but I can not seem to get windows 11 to find my t3. Any suggestions?
