J-Tip

I lost my charging cable, trying to get a temporary one to work. I know 4.5-5.5 volts and DC power and 0.5 amps, but I can't find out what the tip is is it "+" or "-"?

I have no experience with the J-Tip, but the center pole is (almost) always positive, and the circuit *should* have reverse polarity protection.

In other words, I advise waiting for an authoritative answer!

While we are on the topic of J-Tips...I would love it if someone would step up and provide a true instructional video or PDF outline on proper ways to use the J-Tip.
I have one, but have not learned how to use it properly and have defaulted to always using my Schoendstadt ( which is just one more heavy item to carry around as a solo-operator)
I always have had the intuition that the J-Tip is a very good piece of equipment waiting for someone to properly demonstrate its value.

I believe Shawn Billings posted somewhere here how to use it at one time. I'd like to buy one for our machines. Reading about the J-Tip looks very interesting, it would be fun to use i think ! I could even use on my Victor LS !

Someone posted a demonstration of the J-Tip. That is all it was.
What is needed is how to tune the settings. It appears to a very tune-able detector but the 3 page manual does not explain it very well.
Ideally, it should be updated to have 3 or 4 settings (A, B, C, D) that are suited for different types of conditions.

In the meantime though, if a person who understood it well enough to explain - Could put together a 5 minute video, it would be very helpful and most likely boost sales.

Here are the settings that I been using.

Tap Mag screen, then tap setup, tap advanced.

Open after - 0
No tone less than - 1.4 (I may adjust this to a lower setting if I am looking for an object with a small magnetic field in a magnetically clean area)
Min RTK engines - 1 (I almost never perform a 2d or 3d scan of the area, this setting is for how many engines are required)
Tones settings
Edit Tones - All
Slope 0.5
Negative Tones - High Pitch or Sine (pick what you like)
Min Tone step - 0.5
From the mag screen tap the bottom left black box to select sensor and polarity type. ( I use 2 setups here mostly the first, Z direction and D differential sensor. This is for pinpointing. XYZ Direction and Single sensor is for a wide area search. )

Set Jtip Sound as a white box to turn on and off the sound from the action screen.

I definitely 2nd the motion for a J-Tip video. I've had one since I purchased the Javad system and have never used it. I spent my first few months focused solely on learning the LS and becoming confident in its use. When it came time to employ the J-Tip, I found the instructions "lacking". As a solo operator it would definitely be a bigg help to have it verses having to carry the Schoendstadt.
