There are dozens of settings, in the LS, and in the base. When you break, or interrupt a sequence, it has a potential to leave a letter, or a number in some storage slot, that can mess things up.
I've been having reduced range on my system for a month now. I was setting up my base, and then suddenly decided I had to switch from internal radio, to external radio. I did this, during a sequence. This somehow corrupted a piece of the NV Ram. I rebooted the LS. I cleared the NV Ram. I re-sent radio settings from rover to external radio. Restarted the base.
After doing this, a number of things began working better. (It was back like it was a month ago).
It's a good idea to just occasionally do this, just in case your interruption of any sequence, allowed a wrong setting to occur.
If you are having trouble, this may fix it. It's like clearing off your cluttered desk, and prevents co-mingling of settings or files that don't go together.
Happy Surveying.
