RTPK questions

1. Is there a way to accept a point with just RTPK and not RTK? I know in the setup we select RTK only, versus float or stand alone. This is for the times in the woods where RTPK has repeated solutions and RTK can't get out of float.

2. Could the software be modified to treat RTPK observations with the bucket approach? Sometimes in the woods we may get a high number of RTPK shots that agree with each other and with RTK.
Once RTPK round that disagrees with the previous dozen sends you back to ground zero. It would be extremely helpful if this batch could be added to after a round that disagreed, rather than discarding all the data.

Both these may be software updates.

Mark,
There is a glitch in the software that will not allow you to store the shot if you don't have any epochs. If that happens I just take a picture of the current coordinates at the bottom of the collect screen. I had posted about this once and thought I was the problem. However, my guys and myself have confirmed it is the case.

You can also select to save it for post processing and it will save the point and coordinates from the RTPK solution.
It's really a pain though if you forget and try to accept the location without selecting the post processing as you get the "do-ing" sound and lose the RTPK position.

If you tap on “current RTK” it will switch to “current RTPK”. You can then stop and accept and it will be the RTPK position.

Matt, looking to find a way to accept the RTPK when RTK has not generated a fixed solution. What I have experienced in the situation where no fixed RTK shots have been collected, RTPK is not accepted, despite having many rounds in agreement.

Mark…uncheck rtk and rtpk must agree in your action profile. With it unchecked it will store the Rtpk shot once it meets your criteria you have for the rtpk settings.

Wes, I have rtk and rtpk unchecked. My results only allow accepting an RTKP point once atleast 1 fixed RTK point is collected in the sequence. Once there is a fixed RTK epic, whether good or not, JField will accept the RTPK.

Mark,

So you are saying you do not get any fixed epochs at all? In that case you would have to switch to a waas float profile and let RTPK work then. I do not know that I have ever been in a place where I have not gotten at least 1 fixed epoch (as long as I had radio). Even if it wasnt the right fix I would still generally get at least one click.

This is not a common occurance, but once in awhile on a difficult shot, RTK does not fix. If RTPK does fix and repeat itself, I would like to store the result. And guessing when this will happen does not warrent a float profile.

Matt,
This has happened to us many times. So much so that our guys strategize how to get at least one epoch. We have found that sometimes the AutoRTK function can help get one epoch. I have been reduced at times to taking a picture of the coordinates and manually entering them. I would think this would be a simple fix. But I am just a surveyor and not a software engineer.

Matt, If they do fix this RTPK item, possibly they could also look into item 2. at the beginning: Keep the RTPK's that agree with each other as a group that can be added on to. As is now, one round of RTPK that disagrees with a batch that had good agreement, wipes out the first batch. Parallel is treating the RTK sessions with the bucket approach, versus scrapping them when one dissenter pops up.
