Setting up your Monopod

When I first got the monopod, I felt it was a bit too weak.

I used it a couple of times, and found it needed tweeking.
Here is what I learned.
It requires a break in period. The cam locks do wear in. Dry silicone lubricant is what I put on the cam locks, and that has helped.
Use an allen wrench, and tighten the little screw beside the cam lock, until it just starts to bind, then leave it. (it should slide, easily, but not too much slop, while sliding)
Tighten the cam locks, but not too much. It's a sin, but I used my leatherman....
These monopods require setting up. Once set up, they are ok. And, VERY light.
They are great for long hikes, in woods.
I put a 90° bracket on the wall, with a 1/4" hole in it. This allows me to keep the top stationary, and slowly move the bottom around, and adjust the bubbles.

My comment? Take some time to get your monopod set up. Expect a "Break in" period.
Adjust to keep slack out of it.

It's useful. It is mostly aluminum. Tighten things slowly, don't over tighten.

I think AFTER break in, and set up properly, you will "Make friends" with it.

Carry allen wrench for the first few days.

And watch the bubbles. It all has to get set up right.

Once there, I have made friends with it. You can too.
