SIM card setup problems

I have a new SIM card that won't hold its power, although it does so for a minute or so. I'm using the SIM card 1 slot.

In the 4G/LTE screen (under Configuration) and under the lefthand SIM card 1 options, I have turned on the radio buttons for SIM Card 1, and Cellular Data On. When I turn on the 4G LTE Mini Card On option, I get a new screen that asks if I want to turn that on. When I tap Yes, it returns me to the GSM screen and shows power On. And shows Data Link on. It appears all is good. If I return to the Home screen, the WiFi symbol indicates I have a connection.

Then in less than a minute the SIM card powers off, and beside the SIM card indicator on the GSM screen, it states, "Insert SIM and power on"

I've repeated this about a half dozen times. If anyone can suggest what I'm doing wrong--! Thanks.

A buddy just talked about this today with me. Here is his solution. Start with Sim1. When error message occurs switch to Sim2 but leave card in Sim1. When you get error for no Sim card switch back to Sim1. He says he has to do this a lot. May work. May not.

Thanks, Phillip. Just gave that a try. No go, unfortunately.

If this is happening to others, sounds like a software glitch?

Matt, any suggestions? If some percentage of folks are experiencing this, it's a fairly big deal. I just signed a two-year contract. Hope we can resolve this!

You probably have but make sure it is inserted all the way. Use the tweezers. I had a customer the other day who was getting nothing and I had them take it out and use the tweezers and it started working correctly. Your mileage may vary.

Used tweezers! Actually I found they were a must. Card just doesn't engage without them.

What's frustrating here is that the LS reads the card, powers up, indicates all is a go--the homepage WiFi signal engages--and then it closes down. Erg! I get the same result in either slot.

Patrick you mention the wifi icon. When using the GSM modem it is the 4th icon from left that you should pay attention to not the wifi icon 2nd from left.

Poor description on my part. I shouldn't have said WiFi--I'm observing the GSM icon, the ascending series of six vertical lines. That icon normally shows a little red X in its bottom right, and that disappears when the SIM card is active.

I presume so. It came directly from SmartNet and is being marketed for rovers. It's stamped with an ATT icon but all the paperwork is SmartNet.

Instructions that accompany the SIM are simple: 1) Insert card, 2) Configure device using the following APN: m2mxxx, 3) Get to work!

If only.

Could it be any other SIM card setting? I'm using the LS defaults which are PDP: 1, CHAP (checked on), PAP (checked on), and IP settings as IPv4.

Sorry to hijack the discussion, but this is really a simple question - I'm getting my SIM card setup, and all I did is pop the card out of the AT&T hotspot, pop it into the Card 1 slot, and power up the LS. It connects to the internet and seems to work just fine. I didn't change any settings. Is that all there is to it, or is there some settings to change? It's online and connecting to the RTN.

That is all you should need to do.
