Stake Curve from Map

Is there a way to stakeout a curve by selecting it from the map like the stake line function? The curve is imported from an autocad drawing and I would like to be able to select it from the map and stake it in the same manner as the stake line/polyline function. I tried selecting the curve by changing the stake mode to Alignment Stake-Here and then stake line and then I tried Polyline from map however the cursor would not allow me to select the curve desired for staking. Any help or advice on staking a curve quickly would be greatly appreciated.

You are right that it is not allowing curves to be selected currently. Until this is fixed, if the curve is part of a polyline with line segments, you can use the "Polyline From Map" option and choose that polyline by selecting a non-curve portion of it.

Hello All,
It's been a while for me... has there been any updates to this? Like Monte, I want to be able to stake curves by selecting them from the map but I am unable to do this, even if the curves are part of a polyline as Matt suggested.
What is the best way to stake curves with the LS?

Thanks much!

Hello all, any updates on this topic? It sure would be nice to be able to select a curve on the map and be able to stake to it, just like you can do with a line. Matt, I tried what you said above about importing a polyline with the curve included in it, but I am unable to get it to work. My current work-around is to either create an alignment in J-Field (slow) or create points in autocad on the curve and then import them into the LS for stakeout (even slower).

The only workaround that I can think of is point staking the radius point and then keeping yourself at the distance of the radius away from that staked radius point.

Yep that's another way. We all know there are many ways... I could get the total station out and stake it out using deflection angles and chords, but who wants to do that anymore??;)

I am still able to select a polyline with a curve to be staked. The problem seems to be the target point on the polyline isn't always a point on the curve and right now we don't have a method to advance to the next line segment of the polyline. Using Next/Prev to select which line segment of the polyline is on the to do list (VSAPP-3315).

The task to select a curve from the map (VSAPP-3112) is still on the to do list and assigned to @Sergey Gaydukov.

To stake a curve currently, the easiest method is to use the "Polyline From List" option to select the curve. Highlight a node on the curve in the review screen to figure out the name of the curve.
