Stakeout and collection actions

I haven't been able to find out if it is possible and Im hoping that someone can help me out with this...

I want to be able to have a specific action associated with 'Collect' and 'Stake'

So when I got to Collect I always have my quick topo action group associated

Then when I flick to stake I always have the stake action group associated

From the looks of it right now Id have to manually pick the correct Action group when either in Stake or Collect. I think (Id love some more input from the forum) it would be beneficial if these were automatically assigned (user input initially of course) to Stake or Collect.

I made a stake action setup, called STK45. When I want to use it, I assign it. It only uses 45 epochs. (Hence the name) This is because I am going to move my pole AFTER it cycles through once. So, the 1st time through, it says N42E 6.5' (Or something like that). So, now I use my compass and box tape, and MOVE there. And, repeat. I do it this way, (It is a weaker solution) BECAUSE I know I am going to get a GOOD check after I set it (If I've pretty confident I set it). OR, simply move the pole. (I got it to lie to me several times, UNDER a spread out pine tree!)

To then check it, I can recall a stronger profile. But, I have got my position very close, before I run it that far.
So, I am saying, that Out in the open, This is fast, and gets her done. In the woods, it is fast, and (lies occasionally) but, I already know that... because I'm going to re shoot it. And, before I store it, I change profiles. It is a fast way to get close.

1 Button Press (Compass)
2 Button Press (recall)
3 Button Press, Select Profile
4 OK
That happens pretty fast. I actually like to START with STK45, and then select the next profile, AFTER observing the canopy, and speed that STK45 works.
Sometimes, after getting real close, I set it to a minimum time of 120 seconds. Or, even 200 seconds. I have U1 set to RESET RTK. So, sometimes, after it gets 120 seconds, (And it is set to 200) I press U1, and let it restart, and after getting about 15 seconds of more data, or about 30 more epochs, I store it.
There is stuff you can learn, as you go.
Changing profiles, is a "Way of life" that is tailored to the canopy overhead. The one thing you don't want is EVER a wrong shot. But, you generally don't need 200 seconds, and 600 epochs, to locate a simple fence corner, in a wide open place. (Unless it is very close to the boundary, and is a possible point of legal action, then you might want a 200 seconds on it!) You can set a white button, to select profiles. This is even faster.

Do it right, as as you go, speed will come with time.
There are 2 factors going on all the time. Satellite Geometry, and canopy overhead.
In times of good geometry, things always go faster.
In more canopy, then the slower they go. And, the more we have to be sure, with verify, and verify again.
You have a wonderful new tool. Learn to apply it to your situation.
All the best!

Much appreciated.

You are welcome! Remember, we are pushing the envelope, with this gear. If you have any question about weather or not you have it GOOD, is to run 120+ seconds, minimum of 2 engines, WITH V6 reset, with a min of 2 engines. I personally have mine set to 200 seconds. The logic behind this, is it lets a longer arc from the moving satellite, catch a BAD fix, or initialize. Shawn Billings says he has never yet seen a lie, with 120 seconds. But, I want to be SURE.

If you wind up sitting there for 15 minutes, to finish ONE corner set, you are STILL going to go home with 100% confidence. I have my mental process set, to 100%, or we don't leave. Occasionally, you will wind up waiting for a long time. Maybe an hour. I, with my old gear, waited for over 2 hrs, to get enough data, that I could leave. I know, it's not efficient, to do that... but, most of the time, you can get her done in 15 mins. And, to set up a total station, and a backsite, and shoot it in manually, would take longer than that.
I have asked about "setting that will NEVER lie to you". What I got was the idea that Mr Ashajee HAD it worked out, so it would never lie.... BEFORE 5hz, or beast mode.

THEN beast mode came along. All that work went out the window.... to some extent. So, I just want my data right.
Mentally, I don't care about fault, and blame. I just want it right.

So, people like ME, who really push the envelope, have to be sure that things are good.
My BOUNDARY setting, (My personal "never lie" setting) is:

Start with start button.
How to Stop, After 100 epochs, and a min of 200 seconds.
VERIFY with v6 reset
Min engines 2
Flashlight blink on
Validate at least 2
Confidence 25
Consistency 30
What to store
Raw GNSS data, 1hz
Screenshots ON
At A1 and A2
Correct for tilts is off
Only RTK Fixed, (of course!)
Actually, there are more settings on that page... but That is the main stuff.
Often, I only do 2 shots, but if there is ANY question, or need of higher accuracy, I do this 3x.
Then, I use the average function later.
What I get is a nice accurate shot. Usually all 3 within 0.05'!!! LOVE IT!

The reason I am comfortable with all this, is that with my old gear, I had to do all kinds of things to get HIGH confidence.
With Javad gear, and the settings right, it is just awesome. Less stress, and all.
The flashlight setting, is handy for "going high" so I can see when it has finished sequencing. ie, a 12' high rod. (Adjust your rod bubble well)
And, it is also handy for pouring rain, where you cannot see the screen well!
:)

Enjoy!

On with stakeout, and the compass.

I'd like the compass to SWING freely, after the stake sequence has finished, and is waiting for ACCEPT, or ACCEPT AS. The idea is that AFTER it has sequenced through verify, I can rotate the pole, and use the internal compass to SET the corner, (usually within 2 ft)
What it does NOW is the compass swings while performing the shot, but after it finishes, but before accepting it, it no longer swings. It would be nice if it swings, so I can use it.
One reason for this, is that in marginal radio areas, I have to ROTATE the pole, to GET RADIO. Then, I want to rotate it to point the right direction, to set the corner. And, I find it locked.
Thanks
Nate
