~~Thunderstick~~

Javad has introduced the "Smart Tip".

I am really quite thrilled that somebody has a SMALLER and LIGHTER metal detector.
My philosophy of surveying, is to have EVERY member of my survey crew, working at maximum efficiency, at all times. Thus, we get the idea of setting the LS up, on a point, where it will be for the next 10-20 minutes.
Get metal detector, and shovel, and go searching for the next monument to occupy.
And, here is the rub. It appears that the smart tip, is ATTACHED to the LS.... They are stuck together. That's the problem.

Here is my suggestion:
Make a few copper connectors, on the outside of the Smart Tip.
Make a handle, and independent display screen, with speaker (Speaker should be nice and loud, to use near traffic, for us old guys, with dull ears!) for the Smart tip.
Now, the smart tip can be used independently of the LS, ie, BOTH are working at the same time. Attach the handle, and it now works independently.

And, while you are at it, add to this removable handle a cattle prod taser.

The handle has it's own battery. So, now press the button, on the taser, and POP! POP! POP! we have a self defense weapon.
Dogs do not like Tasers. When you discharge one, it makes OZONE. When a dog smells ozone, (Dogs are smell oriented creatures) usually they associate thunder storms, because thunderstorms, make ozone. Most dogs are afraid of thunder storms.

And, we now have the THUNDERSTICK!

Here is an example of one of these stun guns, a short youtube video:

I have owned several of these. They are simply awesome, for dog attacks.
Here is another design, looks pretty rugged, but has no flashlight:

AND... it would also be good if we could stick the "Smart Stick" (tm) in our backpack, without the handle, and it had on it a very small speaker, (onboard) so we can use it in extreme portable mode.
Now, several of us are looking for a totally non ferrous metal bipod, and GPS pole. Carbon fiber comes to mind... So, we could simply make a pouch for the smart tip, and have it with us at ALL times.

We are surveyors. We adapt, modify, and re-purpose all the time.

This is a way of life...., not an event.

Anyway, who wants a THUNDERSTICK?

How would you like to be digging around in a wood pile, out comes a snake, and you pop him with the stun gun's electrodes, at the end of the thunder stick?

Now, a few comments... the taser does not work at the SAME time as the metal detector... it is one or the other, so they do not interfere with each other. And, hey, why not add a flashlight to the thunderstick handle? Now, we can peer down into those holes, manholes etc?

I'm in. I want one.

Thanks for listening!
