Hi Nate. It seems like the LS would eventually become unstable with your current setup. Have you had an "accident" yet?For what it's worth, I installed a fender washer, on my mono pod. In soft soil, I can step on the fender washer, and plunge the tip, deep in the soil, and do other work, un hindered, while the LS is working. I need to find a LONGER spike, for the monopod, to make this more useful, but since I don't have the bipod, this works. Also, the dist from the bottom of the ls, to the washer becomes my antenna height. Of course, this would not work in hard soil, but it works. The fender washer I am using is 1-1/2" dia. I want a 2-1/2" dia one, as it will let it be more stable. But, so far, this works, but it really does need a longer spike. I don't have the J-tip yet.The fender washer trick would not work with J-tip, as it is made of magnetic steel....

Is the J-Tip designed for day to day point collection or only when locating a magnetic object? I'm wondering if we install for locating and then remove/replace with conventional tip when point is located and collected...
Can the LS be collecting, (Collection sounds are muted), and metal detector sounds are now allowed.
Use = good
If I won't be doing much searching, I take it off and put it in my pocket.
I will also need a pouch of some kind for it.

The biggest obstacle to me buying one, has been taken away. I THOUGHT it was much bigger than it is.
Somebody that has one, post a few pics of it's actual size and weight. Like, in your hand, or with a box tape, or something for perspective.
So, it's on my agenda, to get one.
I will also need a pouch of some kind for it.
