Cloning Setups

Greetings,

Hopefully this will be an easy one. We've taken the plunge, and ordered our second Triumph-LS. Is there an easy way to copy the setups and configurations so painstakingly put into our first LS, into our new one?

Thank you,

Rory

Create a Full Backup on your existing LS (Files>Full Backup and Restore>Backup to USB Stick) then restore (Files>Full Backup and Restore>Restore from Existing. Backup) the data you deserve from that backup to your new LS.

Hi Matt,

As a followup, I just finished with Michael Glutting (who was helping me clone my setups from my first LS to our new one) and he basically did what you suggested, but there's a caveat, the there's a stop in the Back up/Restore program if it detects a backup is being restored to a another receiver, i.e. one with a different serial number. Using RAMS with both of my receivers connected, Michael was able to use his magic with special codes to get around this, but this was one of those "...don't try this at home kids..." moments.

Michael G --> THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...try getting that kind of support with another GNSS supplier, huh!!!

Restoring All Data to a different receiver is blocked. I'm pretty sure restoring Tags and Codes was unblocked and we were going to allow Profiles to be restored as well but this may not have been done yet.

Hi Matt,

No, Michael was doing the driving, but I was watching him and I think he did a full back up and recovery since I also have old projects as well. Which turned out to be very useful, (think of all those Grid-to-grounds.)

All the best,
RS

Just a question. Why would cloning an entire LS be blocked? I can see a situation where one needs sent in, or whatever, and we want to keep working, so, Get new one, clone old one, and send it in, for repairs, and such.
I guess it would be ok if this were an anti theft idea. But, anyway, I can see it as useful... for the user.

It can cause problems, especially if the hardware is not same. Tags and Codes, Profiles and All Projects can currently be restored with the latest release version of J-Field.

Hi Matt,

We're a Carlson shop so we don't use J-Field Tags/Codes, just use Descriptions, etc. but when you say "Profiles", would that include General Setups, Action Group Setups, Coordinate Systems, and WiFi setups?

Thanks,
