Deleting job files in the LS

For instance, I started trying to use the "real time position shift" function a couple weeks back and while a very, very good feature have found different positives and negatives of when/where to use it.
The issue though in showing the crews where to find that feature was where it's at. From the home screen, select "setup"(??), "edit" (the top left edit by the way as there are three different edit buttons on this page) and then select "advanced".

You can get to this quickly by pressing the Setup hardware button twice.

Thanks both Adam and Matt......just another example of what we're discussing.....there's not much way we'd know these "shortcuts" until we're told where to look.

This is in the Quick Start Guide! ;)

Huh...well by doggies it is isn't it!...both yours AND Adam's suggestions.....there's not much you guys didn't/haven't covered in the guides, it's just hard for me to remember to look!
I probably just "skipped" over this when I read the guides because we weren't looking for or using it.
I will try and look more carefully next time before I say we haven't been told where to find something.

I'm also trying to clean up old files. I see under the "Maps" folder there are subfolders for each project, but none of the project folders have anything but raw data and screenshots. Where is the base project file, similar to a .job or .dc file in Trimble? Does the project folder hold all the info for that project, so if I copy it to my computer I can recreate it from that later on?

Use export archive to store everything you need to recreate project.

Data is stored in internal memory and on SD card. File structure is the same (folder names) but some data may be in the internal memory folder and some may be in the SD memory folder, meaning it's not a sure way of backing up. Archive is thorough, regardless of where the data is stored, it will be placed in a compressed folder that J-Field can also unpack to recreate the project later on.

Ok, so this is maybe more to the point - when I go to my list of projects to open/create one, there are many that are inactive and I just want the list of active projects. So the best way to back them up is to create a zip file like you said. Then how do I get them off the list? Delete the project folder on the memory card? I just get nervous deleting anything.

To summarize: Please, do not copy/move/delete projects directly as files (either on LS internal memory or on SD card), this will sooner or later (and rather inevitably) lead to problems hard to diagnose and fix. Especially, if you backup a project by directly copying its files somewhere, chances are you will not be able to restore it and/or some data will be lost. Use Archive/Unpack to manage backing up/copying/restoring/duplicating/moving between devices/etc. To delete one project, use red "X" in Projects list. To delete several projects, select "Multi-select actions" in Projects screen context menu, mark projects to delete in the list, and select "Delete selected projects" from that screen context menu. Yes, it is not very straightforward, but in my opinion, deleting several projects at once should be hard. Probably we need to remove long-click-to-delete-all from the Projects screen as well to make losing all data harder.

@Matt Johnson, I agree it's good idea to add Manage projects to Files screen. Added ticket VSAPP-3524.

I also found another place we can delete several projects. After archiving, go right back into "archive several projects" screen and hit the additional actions button. I think there we can also select them one by one and then "delete selected projects". Not much different than the way that's been described - just a different location.
Maybe easier - maybe not.....

I agree with everyone here - it should be extremely difficult to delete multiple projects, or multiple anythings. I would also appreciate a "Manage Projects" button, or something like that.
