First Test of the Triumph-LS Plus: Real World Productivity Increased by 310%

The tests that I have run the last couple of days have been very productive.

This is my testing site:

Mondays test I used my typical boundary profile. I have my boundary profile set differently than the default that comes from the factory.

My typical boundary profile is as follows:

Start with Start Button
Stop after 240 epochs
Auto accept all
Auto restart 2 times
Confidence 25
Consistency 20
Min. RTK Engines 2
Validate 2

This test was run for 3 hours 7 minutes

This is the statics screen shot with my standard LS running the V6 engine firmware.

My LS Plus running the 4 super engine statics screen shot is:

Both LS were set up 2' from each other and about 2' from a 20" poplar tree in the middle of the woods. I started them both at the exact same time and ended them at the exact same time.

Yesterdays test I decided to used the 2 engine multi constellation engine and wanted to run Adams Boundary Profile settings
This test was run for 3 hours 12 minutes

Start with start button
Stop after 240 seconds
Min rtk engines 1
Confidence 2
Consistency 0
2 epochs
180 min phase 1 duration
Validate with 1 engine

Again both LS setup on the same points as the previous day. Old LS running 2 engine firmware and LS + running 4 super engines.

Old LS:

LS +:

By looking at the statics, Adams setting actually work slightly better than mine in the 4 super engines. His setting were able to get 3 more shots than mine in very similar time span. The percentiles were very similar in both test.

In these test with these settings the 4 super engines out preformed the V6 engines by 3:1. The 4 super engines out performed the 2 engine firmware by 2:1.

I will do more testing in the coming days with some different settings (suggested by Javad) and will post those results as well.

Jim,

The thing to keep in mind with the "testing" you are seeing relative to the LS Plus is being conducted in the worst conditions we can find at the moment. Not exactly locations I would expect to obtain a reliable elevation.

However, I did perform some rather boring "in the open tests". I will have to dig up the data and post it here, but the vertical was better than ANYTHING I have ever seen from a receiver. The horizontal could probably be said to equal a total station measurement. Probably actually better than a significant percentage of surveyors could do with their total station, when you consider the errors from unadjusted optical plummets, and rod bubbles. (This problem is a source of frustration for me)

I can confirm this will be a major announcement and a game changer. It is a feature that I've dreamed about for a long time.

Oh come on! I just got done begging the treasury for money to buy a Triumph 3 base and I told them I'll be set for a long time. It's all good though - I'm excited to see what this is, and will probably wind up trying to find a funding source again. If it helps me get work done faster and more efficiently, which in turn helps others to be better, it's an easy sell.

As I gather the news, Trimble units are making real small clusters, both horiz and vert. (Rtk is tightening up). But, that's out in the open. The Trimble business model is gps, combined with a robot/total station.. This is what Hwy dpmt. Seems to like.
What I dream of is robot speed, 0.02' accuracy, on everything, and a battery powered hammer drill, to set monuments, or chisel holes in pavement.
Dream big.

Excited to see what is next. My T3 should be in the mail any day now & I'm signed up for the LS upgrade. I can only imagine what is next!!!

I am using the 1m base right now. The T3 probably wont be a big change for the system, but together with the LS upgrade, I think it will make a big difference.
We have the 1m and we're waiting to get our 2-LS's upgraded. I would be curious to know what performance difference is obtained with the T-3?
