I am posting this, because I want a MECHANISM to look through the descriptions, and FIND a particular point, shot that day. I really (at that point) don't care about the other data, Now, I know filters work, and they work good. But, sometimes, just looking at the last 10 shots, for the rebar 16" deep, is faster.
So, I'd like a POINTS display screen, that shows ONLY the point number, (name) and description.
In fact, I'd PREFER that this was the default screen, for points.
But, I realize that there is MORE going on, than I am aware of. BUT, the LS is PRIMARILY a field tool, then SECONDARILY an office tool. For field procedure as it IS NOW, I have to go to the approximate page, and then scroll through point by point, looking at the descriptions, to find my point of interest. That is not as good, when standing beside the road, and a sharp wind is blowing, and I need a few field calcs, to determine the next course of action. I also wanted you to see a working example from the field. It'd be good to see the first 15 or so characters of the point desc. in one page, just like it appears above.
It's the modern version of thumbing through the field book, and looking "Back a few pages, to find that shot on the barn corner" or "That shot on the section corner".
Thank you,

Nate

I would add that you doing a lot of extra typing if you aren't using Codes and Attributes that are stored and easily recalled by tapping a box. In the next release of J-Field the selection of attributes has been improved a lot.

Well, Matt, I do alot of typing. And, as you can see, there is alot of stuff I just have to do that way.
107,49983.134,49998.943,378.548,Fd#4reb 16" Dp in cl prj w Set 1/2" pipe on top top o pipe is 8" dn...
Means:
Found #4 Rebar, 16" deep, in Centerline Projection from the West. Set 1/2" Pipe on top, top of pipe is 8" Subsurface.
I got in the habit of all these abreviations, when my DC did not allow more than 16 characters of note. Then, I had to resort to field book, to add stuff.
I have done a number of jobs, without field book, with the LS.
I do not know how to "Standardize" some of those notes.
For alot of notes, I USE MR, (Memory Recall). On the left side of that screen, I have alot of FOUNDS, and the Right side, alot of SETS.
Typical, combined with mix and match.
I plan an Arkansas "Javad User's Conference", at some point in the future. Where we can get together, shake hands, and share knowledge, tips, and tricks.
Seems like fun to me. I want to do it at a State Park Pavilion.

Is:
Southwest corner of Railroad Tie Fence Corner, South, and East. 18 feet north to old fence West, on South Side of old East West Lane.
How do you "Standardize" such a point description?
I am ok with some of that, but boundary work has alot of it's own challenges. I did not want to walk 18' north, and take another shot. While it was verifying, and doing it's thing, I was "doing my thing" referencing stuff from that fully verified shot.

Here is an example.

I select an IPF code for "Iron Pin Found".

CODES-FAVORITES_20161216-12.51.17.png

It has the following Attributes. You can now create and define as many as you want.

Code Attributes_20161216-12.51.50.png

I select type and choose one of the stored values I have used and repeat this process for all Attributes. The "Keyboard entry by default" open the keyboard by default for unique values that you don't want to store. I have this option enabled for the Depth and Location fields.
