I have a request for the FORM of the LS (based on field use)

I have not used the monopod very much, because there is no bipod for it. (I wish there were a fiberglass mini bipod for it!) Also, the documentation says that "To get best accuracies, use a regular pole, and Bipod" (That's from memory, so it may be a word or two off) Anyway, I would like a NOSE CONE with a hole in it, to be made for the LS. It would be installed inverted.
Here is a Engine Cowling, for a model airplane. This is the general idea. I also use a Quick Disconnect, so I can put it directly on fence posts, and such like. I also would like a little pedestal, that the quick disconnect goes on. Now, it has a flat surface to set it on a fencepost. (I have unscrewed the quick disconnect, and set it directly on a fence post)
But, the pedestal would allow it to sit on a desk top, with the nose cone.

The idea would be that it fastens to the bottom of the LS, and allows me to walk without it getting hung up on briars.

When I try to un hang it from the briars, it inevitably gets the briars hung on the little rubber feet, on the bottom of the LS. This reverse nose cone could be made from clear, or opaque substance, and be removable. But, it's purpose would be so I can get through the brush better. I will confess, I have gotten down on my hands, and knees, and crawled through the mess, in small holes, where the deer scoot through. I've torn up one of the feet this way.

While we are at it, here is a recent pic. of a herd of deer, and Canadian Geese, and a crow.
Anything to get us through near solid briar masses, is good. The deer make little paths, you can follow, if you are willing to get down low enough.
Usually I have a chainsaw, and the LS, and metal detector... Wanting the new smart tip! But, I'd like a mini bipod with that...

Nate, I use the newer Monopod with a bipod, it will fit the new ones. I usually carry with the monopod down all the way and the ls is front of me. I like your idea though. Also, if its a long hike and I dont want to carry no bipod, I use one of the frogg togg rags you lead me to and tie one up. By the way, I have been following the discussion on the RPLS today and this shot I did have independent verification from a total station traverse and the LS was within a tenth of a foot. You all can decide if thats good enough for what your doing, In this case it's spot on.

Nate, while we will be thinking for a better solution, jut cover the TRIUMPH-LS with a plastic bag when you move around. Some plastic shopping bags have a thread on the neck that you can wrap it too. Let me know if this helps.

Like Adam, I always carry the LS on a survey pole with the tip behind me and the LS in front of me, where I have my eyes on it. It always bothered me to see guys tromp through the woods with a 2 meter pole over their shoulder with the receiver behind them, out of sight. What inevitably happened was that the receiver would get beat up by branches and hooked on briars and vines since it was out of sight. I forced myself to carry the pole differently and now I'm glad I did. I use a collapsible 2 meter SECO rod and bipod for most of my work with the LS and I like it.

Thanks Mr Javad. I have thought of making a leather "hat" with ties under the LS to protect it.... Worried about the heat though, and I cannot see the screen either... I'll ponder more on this.

Speaking of heat, I use those nice JAVAD leather carry cases, but as a word of advice, make sure to shut down your LS before putting it in the carry case, even for the quick trip to the next job or end of the day trip back to the office. They must be thermal bags because my LS gets very hot, very quickly in the carry case. This may something to include in the latest quick guide if it already isn't in there.

All the best,
Rory
