Javad & Small Businesses

I'm trying to get the purchase order together to (finally) pay for my Triumph LS system. Due to federal purchasing rules, we have to go with a small business. This also means I need to get three quotes. First off, does Javad GNSS (or whatever the survey part of the company is called) qualify as a "small business" under government purchasing rules? If not, I will have to get quotes from 3 other companies.

If Michael Glutting is reading this - I want to let him know I fully intend to purchase the base/rover kit he picked out for me (the money is there, just not released yet) but the process has become very political for no reason that I can see. Government functions and what-not...

Until Michael or someone else with an authoritative response checks in, here's some grist for the mill:

13 CRF 121 states that a business with a NAICS code of 334220 (Radio and Television Broadcasting and Wireless Communications Equipment Manufacturing) can have up to 1250 employees and still be considered a small business. (Another criterion is dominance in field, which won't be a problem.) The Javad GNSS LinkedIn profile indicates that it has 87 employees. I don't know how the feds regard subsidiaries, or if the overall Javad structure adds much to the head count, but it looks to me like the answer to the original question is "maybe."

Hi Aaron,

Awesome to read you are about to close on the procurement process! Under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) our code is 334220 and as such, JAVAD GNSS, Inc. qualifies and is registered as a small business concern.

I've sent you an email with additional details.
