Reading Objects

I use STAKEOUT alot. It's how I find my way around. I use it to determine where I should be, to search for the next corner. Etc.
Anyway, it is very annoying. It wastes some 2-3 minutes each time, I "Accept As".

Somebody else said "put stuff on another layer". I am not well organized. How do you do this? In stakeout? Please spell out the procedure to make it not waste time here.
Thanks

Also, I learned a lesson the other day. With white buttons, don't put POINT DESCRIPTIONS too close to POINT NAMES, I have big hands. Fat fingers.
I had a job yesterday, where one neighbor was fussing with the other. (very distracting) one has encroached badly into the other's land. And, ACCIDENTALLY I put the point desc as the point name. For the next 15 shots I have the same point name. Should I go and rename them manually?

It works well, but I have lots to learn.

Nate

Accept As causing map to reload should be able to be fixed pretty easily I think (the whole drawing doesn't need to reload when we use the normal Accept button). I put it on our list to fix this. J-Field does not have layers, but rather pages. You can use the Page box in the setup prepare screens or the points filter to turn on and off pages and select the active page.

So, what you are saying is:
Page 0 is SPC.
Page 1 is my GROUND localized pile.
Page 2 is my GROUND (It's simply set to ground) for it's system. And, THIS is where my shots are stored, as I work? It's SET CURRENT?

I have a job to work on tomorrow. It already has 1260 points in it. I'd druther just load and go. But, that reading objects thing is not my friend.... at least as I understand it. I press "Accept As" and here we go. 3 minute wait! Tell me about HOW to work around this. Or, when it will be fixed. Or is is fixable? I have another job, with 4k points, and another with 6k. I just would druther keep all files identical.... It's just what I'm used to. Tell me whats up with it, ok? If it only does that once in a blue moon, we be ok, or once a day, maybe. But that thing is a problem. That aspect of the program effectively prevents me from using "Accept As"
Thanks.

Hi Nate, this has been fixed in the testing branch of J-Field already. There was also a new version released yesterday to fix bugs, 1.11.8.363. I don't think this fix was included in that version but it may have been, I am not sure. If you still have problems with this, you can turn off the page or pages where most of your points are saved and store new points to a different page by selecting a new active page.

Ok, Thanks! I just checked, I'm all up to date for now. I guess it will be a little while before the version that has this item fixed is released to "General Customers"? I'll be waiting for this upgrade!

Wow. That's a pretty fast go at it. So, then it goes to the beta testers, for a few days, then to me? So, maybe a week from now? (I understand, it could become longer, if things do not go as smooth as you hope....)

Nate, when we have only small bug fixes and there are no major changes we can rely almost only on automatic tests. Automatic tests takes 1 day. So if no new bugs will be found we can release tomorrow.

Thanks Michael! Because the main driving engine behind this is sound (That would be the 6 engine configuration, with resets) now we can build all the furniture, and associated components, to make this system easy, fast, and usable!
