Reset RTK?

OK, when in the collect action screen, you can go to the button on the top of the screen that shows the engines. From here, you can push a button, called "Reset Tracking" and another the is called "Reset Engines".
Not being altogether sure what all this means, I press the HELP button at the top.
Go to second page. And, her it tells me:
"Reset Engines" will reset all the rtk engines, when pressed.
"Reset Tracking" will reset all the rtk engines, and their tracking, when pressed.

So, IF I am getting this correct, "Reset Tracking" does MORE than "Reset Engines"?

And....

We want to set up the USER button, to reset TRACKING. So, we go out to HOME then SETUP, and there we assign actions to U-1 to U-4. Under those options, we have "RESET RTK".
Is this a 3rd option? different than TRACKING and ENGINES?

What I'm looking for, is a mechanism to make it work better, as I change environments.

What is RESET RTK? And I'd like some details on TRACKING, and ENGINES, for my own benefit.

Thanks!

And, do we need to be able to ASSIGN a U button to RESET TRACKING and RESET ENGINES?

Thanks!

My understanding is that "Reset Engines" resets the process of solving the double-differenced ambiguities between the base and rover. When the ambiguities can be constrained to integers, a fixed solution is obtained. When they are not constrained but rather estimated, a float solution is provided.

My understanding of tracking is receivers use code and carrier tracking loops to generate error signals that keep the replica and received codes aligned and also keep the receiver tuned to the correct frequency as changes in Doppler occur. Resetting Tracking will cause these loops to reset as well the RTK engines to reset since data to the RTK engines is lost.

Usually resetting the engines should be sufficient when working in the woods. If you are using RTK Verification and Validation then the engines are reset automatically. If they do not seem to be fixing then sometimes resetting the tracking may help, currently this is done automatically if none of the engines fix after 120 seconds or as specified in Setup>Advanced>RTK/DGPS.

I asked Javad more about Reset Tracking, he has said that this option is just a temporary feature and it will soon be removed and after a more advanced process has been implemented to monitor and automatically reset the tracking when needed.
