Several Javad users have contacted me, about upgrading to the latest Javad gear.
Here is a general answer, for those of you who are using T-2, and LS (minus or regular) as opposed to PLUS.
Here is the upgrade path:
1.) Buy a T-3 first. I also recommend that you get cell modem with it. Reason for Cell modem is: With the T-2, and REGULAR LS, and a Radio, you are sending packets from BASE to ROVER than are 8 ounces each. (Figure of speech) With the T-3, you are sending packets over the radio that are 16-22 ounces each. Since the data packets are BIGGER, and we have been narrow banded, you need a BETTER device to send data via BASE to ROVER. IF we could get a radio, to work on 2 or 4 frequencies at once, this could potentially solve it. But, that is not available.
2.) Then Get the LS Plus upgrade.
Comment on the 4 engine system, It SEEMS to focus on only one engine to maintain lock. Then, adds the rest. This allows the LS+ to get proper fix, without pressing fix, about 90% of the time. I always press start, to CONFIRM, but it's real fast, and good, most of the time, without pressing start.
IF you cannot get cell modem for coms, you will need External Antenna on the LS alot, and you will want the BASE radio antenna as HIGH as you can get it.
OF course, you can just get RTPK upgrade, ($1000 was price last I checked) and keep running the LS-T2 combo. This will allow you to do alot, with your old gear. HOWEVER, you should consider that VERSION 4.0 has already been released, into PRE-release. And, the BEST parts of software is usually designed for the latest version of the hardware. So, obsolete-ism, is un avoidable.
In short, the LS + and T-3 is dynamite.
