Things I dream of

We have siri, a voice activated device, for an iphone, and we have Amazon Echo, a device, we can ask questions of, and tell it what to do. These voice activated devices make me think.

I want to be able to inverse by point description. Like this:
I say Javad-- it says yes?
I say Inverse by description.
It says-- Yes?
I say from 1/2" pipe I shot at about 10:00 this morning, to the CL shot, I just shot.
It then says I found a cluster, shot at 9:42 am, that is 1/2" pipe. Is that it?
Yes. Make an average of this cluster.
it says cluster averaged. Cluster centroid is number 463 avg.
Continue?
Yes
It then displays the inverse, from this 463 avg, to the CL shot.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next scene.
I need to stake nearest found coord to where I am.
I say, Javad-- it says Yes.
Find closest coord to where I am.
It then says: Here are the closest 5 points,
And displays them, with the brg and dist to those points.
I say select point 28, it then goes into stk mode, and I am able to quickly locate the coord in the database, that is an old base station.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next scene.

Javad -- Yes?
Offset, by number.
Yes, From point 28, to point 462. It then displays the brg and dist between these points, and asks offset from what?
I say, from the last point I shot.
It displays Station, and "Go Left 48.22 feet, to be on line.

From last year..

Q:

Hi friends,

It is possible to implement a voice command system in Triumph VS/LS?

The request is due to those points that are very hard-to-reach on the roof of tall buildings for example. First thing that I care about is my stability.

I am familiar with time delay, but in some situations it's easy to say "start-delay zero" for example, or simply "start".

If I set a short delay, receiver start to measure but it is not ready set in the point that I want; for a longer delay it become hard to keep the receiver in position.

Hope I'm not the only one with such request.

Dear Sorin,

You asked:
"It is possible to implement a voice command system in Triumph VS/LS?"

We have no such plans.

This kind of idea (voice commands) is not one you can simply dismiss.

It is a simple matter of time and technology. Who gets it first, who gets it "right", and who makes it a productivity tool, is yet to be seen.

Back years ago, many dismissed the horseless carriage...

And the aeroplane....

And there were many who dismissed the need of 864 channels on an RTK receiver as not needed...
Or having 6 parallel GPS engines...

My own mother "dismissed" my wife, and now we have 10 children...

It's not a matter to just be ignored... But a matter of when somebody is going to do it.
It may require new architecture, or something.... But I do expect to see it in my lifetime.

I hope Dr Javad has dreamed of it too.

Voice commands are now planned to be implemented in the future after the current items and issues are completed.
