Trimble NCRTN custom points export issue

The custom export that you guys built into the beta versions of JMT for us (Trimble NCRTN) has a few minor issues that require some leg work on our end to get it to import into our post processing program. The output file format has a "." in the name which makes FRGS see it as an unusable file type. If it could be changed to an "_" that would solve the issue. It also puts a strange character in the lat and long column when you open in excel. The character is an "A" with a line above it beside the degree symbol.

Could you make these couple of changes for us in the next beta? For some reason it will not allow me to attach a .csv below but I will attach the job file if I can.

Thanks, Bryce

Bryce, I din't catch the issue. These lines from the file.
03451500rm10-1,212049.08560344,285525.87547644,603.226,,RM10
03451500rm10-2,212049.08873321,285525.87241546,603.229,,
AF8662-BM-1,207369.25277862,285799.93590506,603.644,,papa joe
....
Did you already replace the '.' signs with "_"? Could you show an example of wrong output?

Do you see the strange lat/lons inside points screen as well? Or this issue appears only in the exported file?

It seems to only be showing up in the reports. It will do it even when choosing to do a user made ASCII report as well

Bryce,
Eventually I understood.
https://support.dearsystems.com/support/solutions/articles/11000079787-importing-exporting-csv-files-with-unicode-utf-8-characters-chinese-characters-barcodes-etc-

"Simple CSV files do not support Unicode/UTF-8 characters. This is a limitation of the CSV format and not something that can be changed in Exel. However, it is possible to import/export Unicode characters following these steps. “

In brief, create a new empty Excel doc, goto to Data | from Text
Select the .csv file and set Unicode UTF-8 format in file origin. (If you export with header line also set Start import at row 2 there)
Press Next and in the next page set Comma check mark
It will import into Excel correctly.

Thank you for your question, I didn’t know about this Excel feature

Best regards, Yuri.

Thanks Yuri, I guessed it was something to do with unicode not playing nice but couldn't figure out why. Is this something that can be fixed within the app or will we just have to get used to going through the steps you outlined above?

Those steps worked very well, even when leaving the header row in. Excel 2019 is slightly different from the instructions but actually a little easier. I am talking with the software developer of our post processing software to see if there may be another file type other than CSV that could be used that may play nicer with Unicode. I will let you know what we found out. Let me know if there is a fix on the back end so that users don't have to do the extra steps.

We collected a lot of data on the same points with multiple different Trimble receivers and the Triumph 2 units last week in a training we hosted. Most of the trainees had never seen Javad before and had only used Trimble. Most of them were blown away by the Triumph 2 and the ease of use, particularly with JMT. I have a few more questions from some things we saw last week. I will post another thread for them shortly.

I talked to Michael about possibly getting an LS unit to test about a year ago but we never were able to work it out. Hopefully I can get my hands on one soon as Adam is very impressed by it.

I have always been impressed with the LS. I assume you mean impressed with the additional constellations.

It depends, for standard rtk gps and glo the LS uses 6 engines. For multi constellation the LS can use a 6 engine firmware or a 2 engine firmware.

You are more than welcome to ride out to my place for a demo. You'll still need to speak with Michael about getting a demo unit and any purchasing.

Adam, will 6 engine and 2 engine firmware become user selectable, in future versions of j-field? Ie, both are there, and you select.
I can see this as useful, in the event of owning both a t2, and a t3, and having 2 LS's available.
