What to tell a proposed buyer?

I have been using and selling the equipment for quite some time and I think I have a good handle on what to tell a perspective buyer but I want to get some feedback from some of you.

If you could tell a perspective buyer one thing about the LS or the Javad company in general what would it be?

If you do ALL the double checks, with Single engine gear, You are in the field for 3x the time, as Javad gear.
WATCHING an LS quality check a shot, is like watching 4 hrs of work, in 20 minutes.
So, IF your ethics demand the truth, it condenses 3+ days of work, into one day.
IF you don't care then you maybe will not like the LS.

Great, great post Nate! That says a lot how you put that and it's 100% true.

Funny, I've actually been texting a good friend of mine today locally and I asked him kind of the same thing. Give me the ONE reason why you don't already have one of these. I honestly just don't get it. To me, this machine is so revolutionary it reminds me a bit of guys continuing to use a tape/chain after distance meters came out.....or drawing plats by hand after plotters came out. This LS is THAT GOOD!!

Personally, I have to believe that the biggest hurdle for most that may be considering a Javad system is still the "newness" and size of the Javad community. People like the comfort of the "name brand". They like McDonald's, they like Wal Mart, they like Ford and Chevrolet.....they like Trimble and Topcon....when new things they've never heard of come up they're hesitant to try them - at first.

There's really no way, as Mr. Javad put it so well in his ad this month, that this LS is going anywhere. It's simply changing the game, it's just a matter of time until everyone else figures it out. Most people that are playing the "wait and see what happens" game will eventually become Javad owners. If they're smart enough to be looking around reading and investigating it, they'll finally "get it"! If anyone's seen the movie Independance Day with Will Smith, think of the line when he first got to fly the alien spacecraft - "I've got to get me one of these!!!"

That's what most will say when/if you finally test drive on of these baby's.

So Matt, I'd say something like, "The LS does everything as well as, and often far faster, than anyone else, and support is unimaginably good."

I know that wasn't one thing, but the LS is too good to boil down to a single thing (IMHO).

I'm retracing a survey right now by another surveyor who uses GPS I'm finding 2 foot and 5 foot errors all over the place.
It's woods. It's fixed, its good. (not).
It's amazing to me.

If you're "following in the footsteps" of this guy and he's the original surveyor, remember that what's on the ground trumps the platted distances and angles. In other words, hold his corners. But if he was doing a retracement himself of an earlier original survey, correct the heck out of his work. ;)

Like Patrick said...just too good to get it down to one thing....

I'll add these.....

This one's very straightforward and simple - "Do you want to make more money?"

"Do you want to spend less than half the time in the thick, nasty, hot, bug infested areas you go?"

"Do you want the BEST quality control, checks and balances and easily produced elegant, printable files to prove it?"

"Do you want countless features only available in this machine for less than half the price of the competitors?"

"Do you want unparalleled support from actual surveyor's with answers to almost any question you'll have in a matter of minutes or hours most times?"

Then, after asking them all these questions - you'll probably need to ask them this one - "Where do you want your unit shipped?" ;).

But lets say you have to boil it down to just one thing. For me that one thing that I couldn't do without is DPOS!

To your point Nate, I was locating a pin in the woods earlier this week and went through my complete verified boundary/control profile on the first shot and began another measurement on the same point.
It got pretty far along in phase 2 and I was noticing that on the second shot in the distance to last measurement I was about 5 and 5 feet different than the first.
I was wondering what the heck was going on as I let the L.S. continue.
The L.S. decided it didn't like what was going on and dumped everything and started again, this time distance to last was about .06.
like I mentioned before, the L.S. is great for what it does and what it won't let me do if it is configured properly.

As for the performance, you can't beat it. However, I want to put out a kudos to the support team from Javad. My LS had a hiccup a couple weeks back. John Evers worked tirelessly into the evening trying to fix it. When it came time to send it in for repair, Michael Glutting sent me his personal LS to keep me going for the few days until the rental unit arrived. THANKS. I don't think you would see that kind of service from any vendor any where.

The support. I talk with surveyors who are considering buy RTK and they cannot believe what I say about the support. I am a retired mechanic who surveys for enjoyment about one day a week. I could not learn this system without the support. I have no experience with other equipment, but the users of the other stuff warn me about the wild thing that happen to them. JAVAD does not have these problems.

Mistreatment by other vendors is a recurring story (or nightmare) in my travels. I am continually impressed by the amount of abuse in regards to support from their equipment vendors that paying surveyors put up with.
Over the years surveyors have been conditioned that the way it has been done, is the ONLY way.
Fortunately for us in the know, there is a new approach and a new Sheriff in Town. (Javad Ashjaee)
