Boot Failure

Darren it sounds like you need to do a factory recovery too unfortunately.

Jim and/or Darren it might be helpful if you could share your full backup before updating so we can check to see if this an issue that can be repeated. Sharing a Dropbox link is probably the easiest method to share it.

My backup folder is big, around 200MB, which will take awhile to upload. You probably don't need my jobs and photos; are there only certain folders that you want to see?

Yes, I had to do a factory recovery also. After that and restoring from full backup, everything seems back to normal.
Quite a bit of stress and about two or three hours to get back where I was :(
I sent you a google drive link to my backup Matt - it was actually AFTER I first ran the updates this morning.
My unit booted up fine after the initial updates were installed, but all my projects were shown in WGS only - then when I went back into updates, that's when I (and Matthew Sibole who was with me on Rams) noticed the version 0.0.0.0 on Geodata. I then did the full backup and that's the one I used after doing the factory recovery.

Need some clarification. I did create restore point. Do I use a different sd card to perform factory reset, then install original sd card to restore? The directions for factory reset mention all data on the sd card being used will be erased.

When will it be safe to press that support button again for updates. I updated this morning, but apparently I got lucky and pressed the wrong button, as my unit is working at the moment. Phil

The update to J-Field 2.1.0.21 has been suspended while we try to reproduce the issue.

Do both step 11 and then restore your full backup if you have one.
I did both and my latest job is back. However, I have a lock icon on the satellite icon, radio, and internet. I clicked on satellite icon and it tells me no options?

red warning light so clicked on ! button and says "no authorized options"

Got it, home, support, options update. Back in business. Thanks Matt, and John (phone support).

Bit of a hassle but I'm impressed there is a procedure to recover all data. JAVAD rocks!

I can add, that last update was major. Loads of things changed.
There are now 2 pages of white box options.... Means that it's got more features! (yaaymmhmmm)
However, it took a long time to fully update... Maybe 1hr or 1 hr 20 min.
It's possible that (as Matt Johnson said) that some of you did not give it enough time.
I also let it make a restore point on the micro sd card.
If that helps anybody....

Could be, I think mine was trying for about an hour before I saw this thread and turned it off. Not really a waste of time. I learned how to perform a restore, and that it works so I have confidence I won't lose my data.

Not likely to be the problem. If the download is interrupted, then nothing happens, it won't attempt to install the new software until the download is complete. If the internet connection is slow, it may take that long, I believe this update included an update to GeoData which is a pretty big file.

Regarding White Boxes, you'll see that there is now a white box for extended distance to last which includes the direction to the last point.

Has the problem been fixed? My unit is telling an update is available.

Look at the version number. It is likely attempting to roll you back. We took the update down after some were having problems.
