Cogo: point to line

Unless I'm looking at things wrong, in the screenshot the bearing given is for the line P1 to P2, whereas the "B and arrow" in Matt's doctored image suggests that the bearing is from P3 to P4.

It is correct when I check it. In my example, the P3 is directly south of point 9 while the line from 3 to 1 is west.

I was looking at it wrong, I mixed up the northings and eastings.

What concerns me most is what the bearing refers to. I'm usually interested in seeing the bearing of the reference line rather than that of the line to the intersection point.

Jim,

I think some folks would find it pretty handy to use the compass heading output of the LS and tape into the reference line more accurately to get to the reference line. I know this would prove handy when I am putting surveyor's ribbon on trees through the woods, etc. It would also provide another way to make sure you are offsetting in the correct direction.

We all have different workflows, though.

There's a lot of real estate left on the screen (look at all the whitespace around P3). Why not show both bearings?
