J-Field crash

I'm aware that a bug appeared this morning (11-3-15) that prevented J-Field from launching due to something related to a software update. Also, I understand that a .zip file has been prepared that will address the problem. If anyone has access to the zip file, would you please post it here?
Thank you,
Robert

First, let me say that I'm not convinced this file fixes the issue. Having said that, here is a link to the file:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzRuWb4iNIVFdjlQLThNMDNwR0E/view?usp=sharing

You'll want to download it to your PC. Unzip the file on your PC. With the LS connected to your PC via USB, delete the Release folder on Triumph-LS (found in internal memory>Mounted Volume). Copy new Release folder from PC to LS.

This did not address problem with customer I was talking with earlier, but there may have been other issues at play. If you choose to attempt this, let us know if it addresses your problem.

First I tried renaming the old “Release” folder and pasting the new one in the “Mounted Volume” folder on the Triumph-LS, but halfway through the copy process I was notified there was not enough room to complete the process. So then I deleted the old “Release” folder and pasted the new one into the "Mounted Volume" folder; but 10 minutes later got the same message. The size of the new “Release” folder is 172MB.

Robert,
you need to use usb flash and copy directory via "My Device" file explorer on WinCE. ActiveSync or WMDC will not allow to copy files.

How to fix broken //Mounted Volume/Release/ folder on Triumph-LS?
1. Download Release.zip to PC. Be aware this is latest release version 1.11.8.293 on the moment of discovered issue.
2. unpack it to USB flash drive
3. insert Flash Drive into LS USB port
4. Open "My Device" file manager in LS. You suppose to be in WinCE shall already.
5. Remove existing Release folder from "//Mounted Volume/".
6. Copy Release folder from "USB Drive" to "//Mounted Volume/"
7. Remove USB drive and reboot the LS.

Eugene and all, I still find that this can be fixed without having to manually copy the new version of J-Field into the Mounted Volume. Here is what I found works:
  1. If J-Field crashes on startup press the Home hardware button if a blank white screen is being displayed. It should cause the Windows desktop to appear, you may need to wait a minute or two after it crashes before it will work.
  2. Open My Device file manager and navigate into \Mounted Volume\Release
  3. Find and highlight the "VS" icon and then double click the hardware check button
  4. J-Field should open and run after about 30 seconds
  5. Upgrade to J-Field 1.11.8.293 from the Support>Software Updates screen
Matt, Customers should ignore this message!
This is NOT related to the issue on the thread!
White screen is only related to yesterday's development build and has completely different nature.

During startup of the LS I observed J-Field crashing to the OS desktop or to a white screen. This is a different issue than was causing the release version to crash?

That is not related to Release branch at all. It is a Development build only. Customers are not affected by this "white screen" issue.

I am a customer. I did manage to lock mine up 2x today. Held the on button, until it settled down.
As a redeeming grace, it DID re hook to base, without returning to base.
As a down side, it takes it some 4-5 mins to regen the screen, it has some 3300 design coords. I wish I could speed that up. Then, after that regen or loading, it seems to work ok. So it seems like a one time event. (per reboot!) So, I had that point load 3x today.
Once at startup, once at reboot one, and again at reboot 2.

...it DID re hook to base, without returning to base.

This should always be the case. The rover is passive. It only receives what the base transmits. The base receives nothing from the rover. So if the rover shuts down or locks up, the base is unaware and will continue to broadcast corrections over the specified frequency. Once the rover is back on line, so long as the rover looks for the corrections at the specified frequency, it should pick up the correction and be ready to continue.

My LS unit would not mount a USB drive, I got around it by using the microSD card instead. I was able to replace the contents of /release/ with the contents from the zip and now I am booting up properly.
Thanks!

All, I haven't used my gear in a month or so (dang desk job), is there an issue with the latest release version? Should I wait to update?

I just updated to the latest J-Field today 12/26/2015 and it locked-up during the update. I had to perform a hard re-boot. I reinstalled it the second time without any problem. I went to work and it crashed. I kept getting "unhandled errors". It worked fine two days ago. I believe this is the second update I have performed this week. I forced a complete system update and followed it with a with a full back-up. We'll see what happens.

Next problem: I exported my Points (Design and Survey separately). I am unable to import my Survey Points in Page 1 (where it was created) even when I select it to be sent there. It goes to Page 0 where my Design Points are located.

And why, after I enter my base station coordinates during setup, does it collect an autonomous coordinate and replace the coordinates I entered?

I need to work tomorrow because it is going to rain all week, so, a prompt reply would be appreciated!

Thanks!

1. "Unhandled Errors" Do you recall what you were doing when you had the unhandled errors, Don?

2. "Point Export/Import" When you separated the points at export, how did the export name the survey points? Did it add text (such as "STK_") or did it add a numeric value (such as 1000) to the design point names? Also, just curious, what is your reason from importing the survey point back into the project?

3. "Base Rover Autonomous". Are you entering the coordinate in Base Rover Setup, then pressing OK, then Starting the Base with Start Base and selecting "Yes Store Point and Start Base?"

Thanks for the quick reply Shawn!

1. "Unhandled Errors" If I remember correctly It was something about Point Shapes.

2. It named them as numbers, except for the Point created by the autonomous reading which began with "Base" then a number. I am in the middle of the survey and I exported the files to safeguard the information so there were not corrupted during the update. I want to keep all the points survey points together, but separate from the Design Points during my survey. Now, if I try to select the original base point(from page 0) I created via static observation during the setup, a dialog box appears asking me if I want to got to the Home screen or Close The Program. Also during the setup, it shows my coordinates as unknown when the are set to my SPCs. Another thing is that on the Base station side of the window (in Setup) the text lines are in a single line on top of each other (single garbled line).

3. Yes, , but when I select "Yes Store Point and Start Base" it begins collecting autonomous data and then downloads that data as my base point (it creates another point number).
